Browns Starting Campbell
Jason Campbell to start for Browns this week
Posted by Darin Gantt on October 23, 2013, 11:03 AM EDT Jason Campbell AP After hedging for a few days, Browns coach Rob Chudzinski has made a change. Per Tony Grossi of ESPNCleveland.com, Chudzinski announced that quarterback Jason Campbell would start this week in place of Brandon Weeden. If there was ever any doubt that the Browns were ready to hit reset at the position this offseason, this should clear it up. Campbell was leapfrogged by Brian Hoyer earlier this season, and if they’re willing to replace Weeden at this point, he’s clearly not part of their future thinking. Campbell started a game for the Bears in 2012, and has also played some replacement-level football for the Raiders and Redskins. He’s the 20th Browns starting quarterback since 1999, while he sets the stage for No. 21. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com...owns-this-week |

It's too bad we don't get a shot at Weeden. I really would have liked to see us get 10 sacks again. With Campbell, the over/under has to be around four or five.

I would say being another small market team, the Packers are actually one of the most liked franchises by Chiefs fans. |

Browns have used 3 first round draft picks on the QB position since 1999, and yet have played 20 different guys at that position. The also used 4th and 5th round picks on the position.
What's sad is that Tim Couch is probably the best QB they have had in that span. |

That fan jersey with all the qbs listed on it would look a lot more stupid if it only had a couple names of terrible qbs on it, which would have meant they were ok with bad to mediocre play for far too long. |

I'm all for investing in the position, especially now that Reid and his crew are in town. I think part of the trick in finding a franchise QB in this league is stability within a franchise. The Chiefs have been a mess after DV retired. We would have had a number of QB bust had we been drafting them in round during those years. I don't think Herm, Haley, or RC were ever going to develop or have the time to develop a franchise QB. Hell, Haley couldn't even get along with a OC let a lone a QB.
Now is the time for the Chiefs to develop a QB. We are going to have at least 5 years of stability and a plenty of coaching talent to help who ever that is. Who knows, it could be Bray, but I bet we look at QB in the 1st round of next years draft, and I'll be just fine with that. |

4th rounder was Josh McCown (or was it Luke? I don't know they're the same. I think it was Luke.) Don't remember who the 5th round pick might have been, but don't doubt it. 6th rounder Spergeon (FT)Wynn... the last QB taken before Tom Brady. As far as who is the best one... man, I can't even tell you. |

You have to applaud the Browns for trying.
Their problem, I think, is their shitty talent evaluation. They also don't do their best to put the guys they draft in a position to succeed. They're hella talented now but made a shit decision in taking Weeden a couple years ago. They seemed to have had a good one in Hoyer but.. I don't know.. They're just snake bitten. |
