George Pickens posting "Free Me" on IG story

Also supposedly deleted all Steelers content. Unfollowed teammates, coach, and the Steelers page.

If nobody caught it last night, everybody was very happy for Diontae Johnson finally scoring a TD (hasn't since Dec of 2021), and they showed him on the sidelines sulking like a little bitch.

This dude is obviously VERY talented, but he's a ****ing headcase.

Holy shit. Pretty much every leader on the defensive side of the ball is not so subtly shitting on him now.

Yeah, look, Skyy Moore sucks. But I don’t think there’s any world that you can ding Veach for foregoing Pickens given that this behavior was flagged even prior to the draft and is now materializing.

Marcus Peters was a Pro Bowl level talent with the Chiefs so it’s not a stretch to say you’d like him. But as his career evolved, he prioritized different things that didn’t quite involve the team. I want no part of that.

And lets be clear here. Peters was NOWHERE near the level of toxic Pickens constantly is for most of his career here, and once he actually did start to escalate it they shipped him off.

There is a good documentary on Amazon Prime about Barry Sanders. I think the humble aspects of Barry, not celebrating his TDs, not caring about records, and his early retirement can all be attributed to his abusive relationship with his father. The abuse was more mental than physical. His father was a narcissist. He claimed he was a better football player than Barry. And that no matter what Barry did, he would never be better than Jim Brown. At his HOF induction, Barry's dad said he was the third best running back of all time: 1. Jim Brown, 2. father Sanders, and 3) Barry Sanders. I don't really celebrate Barry Sanders humbleness after watching that documentary.

It was a good show, I didn't come away thinking Barry was abused by his Dad. His Dad was a fun loving "Narcissist" if you want to call him one. He seemed to me that and took great pride in his son and his accomplishments. I never took it that his Dad was serious with his comments, like to Joke that Jim Brown was the best and ribbed Barry that he was better. Barry is just an introvert as far as personality and wasn't comfortable in the limelight. He truly cared about team first, and my God, the show reminds you how damn good he was and that we may never see another like him, ever.

The other thing that his dad continually rubbed in his face was that he wasn't good enough to get a scholarship from OU. All this amounts to his dad telling him that he will never be good enough. Nothing worse for a kid to hear growing up.

You get the feeling watching the documentary that Barry never got a lot of pleasure from his own accomplishments. That's a damn shame.

Just ****ing stop.

Skyy Moore can be a bust and Veach can still be correct for passing on him. It's possible for both things to be true.

It is a shame. And I mean, to be selfish, we got robbed of a few years of his greatness too. There has never been a player who could shift course at the pace he could, and run by everyone else on the field at the same time too. The NFL wouldn't have devalued him if he were in today's game.

Even if they do cut him, there's no chance he gets to us on the waiver wire....so keep dreaming I guess. Maybe a fresh Justyn Ross will save us all!

If Andy Reid says he doesn't want a guy because of character concerns, that's one thing I would fully trust Andy with.

We all cackled at Jerry Jeudy getting dogged by Steve Smith because he’s a shitty donk. And we’re also shaking our heads at Pickens, but there are still people acting like he still would have been worth the risk.

Put your Skyy hate aside. Maybe Pickens figures his shit out one day and puts it together, but until then, be glad that Veach passed on him

pre-draft, I loved Pickens. His tape was great.

pre-draft, I did not see what anyone loved about Moore or why he was so highly rated. No measurables stood out, and I had concerns about the relative level of play coming from a small college football. None of the prognosticators seemed to have an issue with any of that, and he was pretty universally judged a solid second round talent, so I got on board with it after the fact.

Turns out, I was wrong on Pickens, and right on Moore the first time.

I don't need my team to be full of boy scouts, but Pickens is the kind of asshole I just can't root for. He's a Marcus Peters style headcase, and I grew to hate that ****ing guy, too.

Skyy had some characteristics that were enticing. He had the biggest hands at the combine, a solid catch %, elite burst from the snap (one of the best 10 yard split times) a solid 4.43 40 time and was reportedly a good route runner for a guy that hadn't played WR that long.

Some posters here keep talking about the small school aspect but Rice went to SMU and played at a lower level of competition as well.

Sometimes guys from small schools make it, like Rashee Rice and Khalen Saunders. Sometimes they don't.

The big thing that we talked about was that Veach can't have complete flops with early draft picks like he did with Breeland Speaks. It's hard to compete when you get nothing from a 2nd rd pick and are paying your QB.

If you can get something from them and have them contribute in some way like Clyde and Hardman, it's not terrible, but getting nothing from Skyy is hurting us

this is all true of course, but I wasn't digging his overall athletic profile and didn't think coming from the MAC he was going to be very prepared for the NFL.

But nobody, and I mean NOBODY had him as less than a 2nd round pick, he went about exactly where (in fact, maybe LOWER) than everyone thought.

So, we can bitch at Veach, but the reality is that EVERYONE, all draft gurus, everyone had him about where he went or higher.

So, sometimes shit just happens.

He appears to not have it between the ears.

Veach's saving grace is his ability to find good football players ANYWHERE in the draft at any time, and he does it every year now. It's frustrating that he's missed on some high picks, but he finds plus starters all of the time on day freakin' three all of the time.

So, it works out.

The reality is he was never a good prospect and we talked ourselves into thinking he was.

He profiled as a 3/4 rounder which is where he should have went.
