***** Official Royals vs. Tigers Game 2 Thread*****

Here it is folks, my second attempt at harnassing my psychic ability.

KAN: Bannister (0-0, 0.00 ERA)
DET: Rogers (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

I say we knock the Gambler around a little today. Butler has three hits, including a double. Final score Royals 8 - Detroit 3.

We win this one and we're in the playoffs for sure.

Very similar to what Hillman said about beating Kenny Rogers. Take advantage of the few mistakes you gets.

I would take that. At least they were in a pennant race late in the season.

I don't remember the exact stat, but I heard today that this was the first time they've done it on a road series starting the season, in 13 or 14 attempts. So it's apparently historic in that sense.

Not that it means anything, it's 2 out of 162, but it's still nice to see them win a road series in April, much less the first one.

Be pretty tough finish 2nd in the North. I'd take second in the Central though.

We've got him for the next 5 years. I don't think I'd worry that much about him in NY.

He did. Per wikipedia: "Hit a two-out walk-off single in the bottom of the eleventh of Game 7 to win the 1997 World Series for the Florida Marlins."

ESPN is giving Bannister quite a bit of love tonight on Baseball Tonight.

I don't remember the last time the Royals got that much attention on Baseball Tonight. They spent several minutes talking just about Bannister. Then talked about Billy Butler later in the show. Long way to go... but at least it's good to see that Meche and Bannister have picked up where they left off last year. If Greinke can do that too, this team should be pretty competitive.

One thing I think we need to keep in mind is that, despite the win, Meche did not have all that good a start Monday. By all rights he should have lost, and lost badly. Hopefully he has it a little more together for his next outting.

And Gordon needs to stop this struck-out looking thing he has going...
