4.3 inch screen PHONES

I can't wait until these things come out this summer. I love a big screen, I am blind as a bat when it comes to small stuff. I have a HTC Mogul and the screen on that is about 2.2 inches. This thing is almost double the screen size of my Mogul, and 30% larger than the I-phone. Can easily watch movies, and I guess Sprint is rolling out Wi-Max to play videos at the highest resolution so far on phones w/ the 4G coverage. All these HTC phones will be running the android system I think, except the HD2 from T-Mobile that runs the new lame windows platform.

My contract w/ Sprint is up in July. I have the old sprint Sero employee plan which is unlimited data, but apparently it isn't compatible for the newer phones. I think unlimited everything plan is $69.99 a month but I somehow finagled a Sprint guy to let me get it for $50 once these phones.

Yep. I watch ESPN Mobile sometimes on my phone. It's been free and everything if all I know. I don't know why they don't charge for it? Oh well.

That's kinda what I'm thinking. If you have to turn the 4G off so often... what's the point?

i never expected to use 4G for just walking around data use. 3G, at least on this phone, is pretty quick for general web browsing and what not.

what i want to use 4G for is home internet access and stop paying TWC every month when i can get comparable speeds for a price already included in my cell phone plan. just plug it in to the charger, broadcast a signal, and surf to my heart's content.

Well that still sounds like an odd way to go about using the most highly toted feature of the phone. So your internet at home is dependent on your phone's 4G, which is still very dependent on battery life while in 4G mode requiring you to charge the phone if you want home internet?

Sorry, but that's crazy to me...

SLAG - Weren't you previously a Palm Pre user? How does the EVO compare with regards to battery life?

I'm planning on jumping from the Pre to the EVO in the next couple of months.

I find it humerous that the Iphone people have to come into the thread to tell us about all of the shortcomings of the 4G phone.

And then the 4G users have to go in the Iphone thread and talk about it's shortcomings.

I can get about 12 hours of battery life out of the Evo with normal use per day. I bought a backup battery on ebay for about 14 bucks that I keep in my car.

Most people are near a power outlet or in their car every day. I really don't understand why battery life is that big of an obstacle.

I agree. I was just curious. I sit at my desk all day and the Palm Pre sits on it's touchstone. Something has to be seriously wrong for me to get into the battery danger zone.

I also hope that the EVO gets a better signal in my basement, which is where my desk is.

i've not once been at home w/o a charger. ever.

would i have to be charging it to use 4G tethering? no. hell, i've never even left the 4G connection on all day to see how fast it drains my battery. but that's mainly because i can't for whatever reason get the 4Gs at my house, where i spend a majority of my day.

It actually has nothing to do with the iPhone. The EVO's major gripe is battery life. SLAG maintains it's not but turns off many of the very "features" Sprint and HTC are bragging about.

So, it's not the magical phone it's acclaimed to be.

I still find it interesting that Android phones - the flagship models - are continuing to get bigger while the iPhone is getting smaller. There is your iPhone comparison.

Yes

I switched to the HERO from the Pre - and have been with android since

The EVO is better on battery life even with 4G / WiFi on.
I enjoy it

Its much easier to turn on features with the widgets - they are quick and handy - if I left them all on i could still get though a day no problem

I keep GPS on 100% of the time btw

Really?

That's a shot right thru the Palm Pre. Sad, really.
