More injuries, I was hoping for 8-8 this year, Know that looks bleak and what about Peyton Hillis, he hasn't done anything yet!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a great point, and I'm sure that could have contributed. I still think that Lilja and Hudson are both undersized interior linemen, and that having Allen's significant upgrade with strength/size was more key to the improved line play than Lilja changing positions. Allen coming in would have been an improvement regardless of Hudson or Lilja at center.
