Changes of Scenery: Turning a Bust into a Star

The Baldwin/Jenkins thread makes me wonder this.

What are some examples of guys who were busts for the team that drafted them, and then blossomed when they went to a new team?

I'm sure that some exist, but right now I'm having some trouble coming up with a good example. In particular, let's concentrate on high draft picks, but if you have others who languished and then became stars, throw them out there.

Favre flourished with his second team, but I'm not sure he was a bust with his first team. He just didn't play for them.

Priest Holmes flourished with his second team, but he was undrafted and had a 1,000 yard season with his first team.

Randy Moss flourished with New England after busting for Oakland, but he did pretty well with Minnesota before that.

Who ya got? Throw some names up here.

Whoa there, slugger.

Brees was not traded. He was still on the team when Phillip Rivers was drafted and then Brees just became a free agent.

You're telling me that a QB drafted in the first 32 picks who is just let go by his team is not considered a bust? I think you would if it were a blind taste test and the name wasn't attached to the player.

Hmmm, it looks to me like it goes:

1. Glenn Dorsey +10.7

2. Patrick Willis +8.4

3. Donte Whitner +8.3

4. NaVorro Bowman +8.2

5. Justin Smith +7.7

6. Tramaine Brock +6.9

7. Ahmad Brooks + 5.3

8T. Aldon Smith +4.9

8T. Dan Skuta +4.9

10. Eric Reid +4.1

Maybe your numbers are a week or two old. In fact, it looks like your numbers are from the end of Week 4.

You're probably right. I pulled it from somewhere/someone else.

But that makes it even more significant...

Yeah, once I looked into it, I could tell that those numbers probably came from a few weeks ago. No big deal.
