DBowe Too Slow? Ineffective?

Two national media members (Greg Rosenthal & Bill Williamson) made reference today to Dwayne Bowe looking very slow and ineffective. These references were independent of each other. Anyone here buying that? Will Bowe bounce back and have a decent season? Were the Chiefs too quick to give him the big bucks? Just curious what the good folks here at CP think about Rosenthal's and Williamson's digs at Bowe.

I've owned your ass all year long.

Alex Smith is not Matt Cassel. Geno Smith isn't NFL ready or worthy of 1.1. The Chiefs win floor is 10 games.

You? Wrong wrong, wrong, wrong.

the Cassel to Smith comparisons were somewhat fair. Look at the overall body of work
But Smith had proven to be several notches above.

As I've said all along, Geno may become an average to above average NFL starter. But he wasn't worth 1.1 and he wasn't NFL ready (as evidenced by his awful play).

In case you're not aware (information, not snarky), he's tied with Eil for most turnovers (11) and this past Sunday was just awful. I felt sorry for the guy on his butt fumble/TD.

As for Alex Smith, I've watched him the past few years because they're always on the West Coast. He was far better than GoChiefs False Narrative and I said so repeatedly.

That said, I don't fault people that hadn't seen him consistently for their concern.

They weren't even remotely close to fair, as those of us that weren't busy being sobby bitches tried to tell the rest of you.

The 'overall body of work' was immaterial when you had the last 40 or so games you could compare. The latter half of their respective careers hasn't been close.

Some of you were busy sucking at Clays teat and now want to try to justify it as anything more than the mindless railings of a pack of easily duped lemmings.

No, there was nothing even remotely fair or justifiable about calling Alex Smith Cassel 2.0. Just eat your crow and forget it ever happened.

People comparing their career stats, and not that of the last 3 seasons drove me insane.

Well, the lemmings actually believed GoChiefs due to his deceptive use of Gifs and PFF.

Welcome to living on the outside instead of 3 yards over the middle, Bowe.
Yep ! Thus Bowe will see the most action in the red zone but then defenses will game for that as well

In general and not referring to Bowe but there is no substitute for speed !

Also, some of you are complete morons.

Crabtree was average under Alex Smith and a goddamn superstar with Kaep throwing him the ball. This should have given you some indication of the type of season Bowe would have.

Our 4th string TE will get more looks than Bowe because that's just how Alex Smith is. I said it two months ago and it's just as true today. Bowe's winning and he ain't bitching, but he's just as good as he has been. It has nothing to do with his speed and everything to do with the routes he's running and the QB throwing him the ball.

Bowe might not break 900 yards, and I didn't really expect him to. Smith would rather have a big athletic TE than a WR like Bowe. It just fits his game better.

Kinda sucks, but that's what it is until I'm shown otherwise. Bowe has gotten open. He's not just running covered all day because he's a turtle.

Here's the INT play. I don't think this INT is on Bowe, really. It appears he gets off the ball, makes the cut inside for a slant route, the DB uses Bowe to climb inside the route and Bowe instantly turns his route upfield. The ball comes out on target for a slant route, but Bowe was already turned upfield before the ball came out.

It could've been Bowe improvising, but either way, Smith had Bowe in his sights the second this play started and to me, Smith should have thrown that ball upfield and over the DB for Bowe. That, or no play to Bowe as the DB had the inside position on the route.

One last thing, Bowe made a good tackle -- don't know what else he was supposed to do here. folks need to except Bowe's lacking speed. He will never outrun a speed DB to the inside of a route like this. he's a muscular player, big and powerful with big strong hands. And, he has everything he needs to be a good WR in this WCO offense.

It's just 4 games, folks. Let's at least give this passing offense a season before we start kicking players to the curb.

Seems perfectly fair enough. Good post.

Pretty much... just not worded well. What would everyone rather... a QB that relies on and forces throws to one guy? or a QB that spreads the ball around to 6-7 targets?
