Heartbreaking scenes...

I watched Field of Dreams with my son. He's a baseball player, and we play catch all the time. The "wanna have a catch" scene really got to me. My dad bolted when I was 6 months old, so it just hit a nerve.

I know what you mean. Cruise grates at me too. I really didn't like much of his work until I watched "Born on the Fourth of July," which was only a couple years ago. That movie is my "exception" for Cruise....and it's a huge exception for me.

One of the last scenes in The Perfect Storm when the two crewman are in the shrinking pocket of air and Clooney's character says "let's get out of here" and both swim out of the boat. One goes to the surface, Clooney's character goes down with the ship. Knowing that none of the crew survived makes the whole movie tough.

For me, the far more poignant scene in that movie is when John C. Reilly knows he's not getting out, and he says, "This is gonna be hard on my little boy."
