Find the Launch Codes! Alex Smith 6th Best QB Since Week 1!

After the terrible performance in week one Alex Smith has the sixth highest passer rating among all NFL QBs with at least 100 passes attempted. His line:

100 of 151 for 1068 yards for 8 TDs and 1 INT and a rating of 101.64.

The comeback win yesterday was a nice outlier that I hope he can duplicate when needed but when we're leading with the rush he's put up some pretty nice performances against the #2, #4, #5, #6, and #12 ranked defenses.

Kansas City did not. You can argue they're as good as last year playing a tougher schedule, but that's still not better.

I don't see how anyone can say the Chiefs aren't improved from last year.

On reading his post, that was my 1st thought too...

CLEARLY this is a much better football team..

But on 2nd read, I believe he just meant record wise (as in we wont win 11 games)...

But I agree with you O.city...this team is undeniably a better team.....in most ways.....

You used the past 2 decades of non-playoff wins for the Chiefs as a reasoning why the Chiefs won't win a playoff game this year.

One could have used the same argument for the Royals this year and he/she would have been wrong.

That's all.

He's picked the 3 things least likely to change in a good, great many years, and obsessed on them to the effect of complete tunnel vision. He's so intent on being a master troll, that he's neglected the rest of the world, including the NFL world, to his detriment.

For him the NFL exists solely to 'GIF up' Alex and Fisher, and snark from the cheap seats.
1) Which is why it's pointless to have a long winded argument with him about it.

2) Our no 1 pick is now an "acceptable" LT. I'd guess he's still in the bottom 1/3 of the league but he's no longer a complete abortion. And he's our 1.1

Smith is the best use of our picks so far and he's a top 15 QB. Not great - better than average.

We haven't added any solid starters through the draft other than Kelcee. And clearly the draft and the scrap heap is where we're trying to build this team...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Actually, I didn't.

I said the Chiefs have only been winning regular season games the past 2 decades.

The Chiefs wont win a playoff game this year because they likely wont be in the playoffs.

Glad I could clear that up for you. If you need more help with reading, just let me know.

I would be super duper happy beyond words if we win even one wildcard playoff game.

I hate that 'monkey' on our backs....I just think the odds are pretty long, considering we will have to play an away game against a divisional winner week 1 of the playoffs...

Anyway...don't mistake the mindset of trying to keep our hopes 'tempered' (pun intended) with just WAITING to go crazy if we actually pull this off.
I don't need to pardon you or any long time fans. As a longtime fan of the Sacramento Kings, (sorry KC) I know a bit what it's like to never sniff the post season. But to me, if you don't allow yourself any hope or any optimism at all, even through all of the losing, than what's the point? It probably won't happen this year, maybe next year or 5 years... but if you don't at least allow for the possibility during the regular season, than you'll miss the "ride" when it does happen.

Anyway.... I'm pulling for you guys. Would love to see the Chiefs fans get some payoff.

The front office iis in year 2 of their tenure and have had draft picks that have played a year and 6 games and 6 games. Seems pretty early to make any determinations on anything but I guess that's just me.

Chiefs are through the hard part of their schedule (early tough part that is). Really need to win a few in a row here to make up some ground.

Thise buffalo and 9ers losses are probably going to come back to bite us

I guess its semantics but the ride is not just about this season, its about this TEAM...

Seeing the young team come together and now start beating decent teams is really cool. Last couple years, we could only beat losing teams....with backup QB's etc...

Watching the plan unfold is very interesting, and seeing April's draft will be another step.

If we do manage to win a playoff game this year, it wont really be the end game of 'the ride' it will just be the beginning...

I personally dont think people are missing the ride by not having 'hope' for a playoff run this season, they are just on a different ride than you....

But I dunno, everyone experiences shit differently. I have a tiny bit of hope we will win a playoff game - if only to get experience (much needed ) for a young team....not so much as an end result. If we go 5-3 that hope will grow a little...If we win more away games against winning teams....that hope could grow alot.

I would love it if my tiny pilot light of hope could get ignited by the gas of a playoff run...but I just see too many flaws still and I am not going to let a single win against a banged up SD team bust my gas valve wide open.

And it's worse than it seems if you waste time watching the whole draft.

We have drafted players that will contribute (Davis, Dat, etc) but when you look at what we passed on to take those players it's sickening.
