Build depth and do your best to be prepared for the future.

Robinson will most likely be ST's and maybe a little work at WR.
Hill will start as the returner.
DJ White will probably be ST's and maybe some slot work.
I haven't seen Erhinger play, so this isn't a commentary on him.

However, I would not assign him a spot as a starter just yet.

If LDT makes the jump from year 2 to 3 that he did from 1 to 2, he's your long term starter at one guard spot, and Pughsley showed promise in the preseason last season.

And while they said otherwise recently, I still wouldn't rule out an eventual change of Morse to LG and Fulton at Center down the road.

Alot of these so called knowledgeable posters have a good reputation of laying out well reasoned statements for this or that.

Agree or disagree, there's no reason to go all scorched earth.

With free agency and the cap, it seems to be about the only way to keep a group together.

By the time you get one area built another is falling apart because people are leaving or whatever.

I just see it as a "mile wide, inch deep" approach.

Depth is a nice luxury, but I remember Bob Trumpy quoting Marty Schottenheimer on Thanksgiving '95. "They may have more stars, but we're deeper."

Having units that other teams can't account for (like the Legion of Boom, the Giants' DL of years past, even the '02-'03 Chiefs OL) I think is more advantageous than making sure that all of your units are a tick above average. The latter approach *will* survive injuries better, but I think its upside is limited.

Philosophical difference I guess.

It may be easier to build up a certain unit, but once it moves on for whatever reason, you have to start over.

What starting spots are open on the team?

Thumper? LG?

Dorsey understands positional value. He's not going to take a guy like Reggie Ragland at 28 to take Mauga's job. That's a ****ing waste. As would taking a LG.

Dorsey is using that approach because we have pro bowl caliber players all over our starting lineup. He's not drafting for the ****ing Browns.

He took Peters and Morse who started as rookies and were exceptional. It just so happens it worked out that way.

He might've taken a guy like Treadwell if they made it to 28, but why trade up and sacrifice depth? That's the thing that costed us most last season, and he addressed it.

Also, how does taking Jones not make our DL "a unit that other teams can't account for?"

Or having a ridiculously young talented CB group?

Like I said, this is ****ing reeruned.

I don't see any immediate starters or upgrades other than maybe depth for now and or the future. I was hoping for immediate help at a couple of positions more than depth for the future.
It seems like there was just a couple of players they had in mind. They were not able to acquire those players via a trade up they were ok with spending.
It may work out to be a great draft, but right now it is just pretty meh.

I cant believe people get so wound up over middle round players....

I like what I know of this draft....still think they should have taken Myles Jack @ 28 but Jones looks like a great consolation.

This is a solid point, but I think depth is critical nowadays. Look at the Chiefs last year: Charles and Houstn were out and we made it through. Kam Chancellor sat out for a month and Seattle struggled.

Depth is great and nowdays, basically a must.

But when you lose all pro type players like houston and charles, depth isn't gonna replace them.

Just bad luck to have lost all the guys we did, when we did.
