Y'all laugh at Dallas and Chicago for paying Romo and Cutler, but think it's perfectly acceptable to pay Alex Smith that kind of money.

Wow.
Find 1 post of mine where I criticize either of those deals.

I've been one of Romo's biggest supporters here. So don't lump me into that group. However, they're completely different QB's and situations than this Kaep deal. This could end up being a Vick type thing. The league figured Vick out because he couldn't play Qb from the pocket.

I think Smith can be just as effective in Andy Reid's system as either of those two in their systems, but again, that brings up the question of system vs player.

If Reid can get that much out of a QB, go get one at a cheaper cost, get the most out of him and go from there.

Meh, any decent QB could that that with their great OL, great stable of weapons, and good defense.

He's proven to be their Achilles' heel when the game actually matters. It's just kind of dumbfounding to think that they haven't won a single playoff game with arguably the most stacked roster in the AFC. The only flaw you could really point to is Dalton's tendency to choke horribly and his inconsistent play.

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

This really isn't hard. Smith played well enough to get his team to the SB, but his return man shit himself. The actual numbers aren't particularly relevant. Your initial point was that Kaepernick too the team to the SB while Smith didn't. You weren't arguing style points.

Sounds familiar.

Get back to me with that quote when football becomes a one-on-one game. Until then, I wouldn't recommend you using it. The Chiefs put up 44 points in that last loss, and Smith threw for 378 with 4 TDs.

Yeah, he played well enough.

My thought on the matter is, this offseason I'd pay Houston. If I pay Smith then choose to franchise Houston, someone would give up 2 1st rounders for Houston, they aren't likely doing that for Smith.

However, the QB franchise tag is about 22 million IIRC.

I'd take 2 1st round picks for Houston in a heartbeat.

46% completion and converting something like 17% on 3rd down isn't playing well enough in any game.

People want to blame Williams solely, while ignoring the fact that if the guy who plays the most important position in the sport doesn't play so poorly, Williams may not have even been in that position. The defense carried him all day, and Smith gets none of the blame. Amazing.
