If the Chiefs go 8-8 or better 49ers get a 2nd round pick.
A third- or second-rounder from Kansas City, the remnant of the Alex Smith deal. Now it can be told: The second draft choice San Francisco will receive from the Smith deal will be K.C.'s second-rounder in 2014 if the Chiefs go 8-8 or better this season. It will be a third-rounder in 2014 if Kansas City is under .500 this season.
So: San Francisco will probably have first-, second- and four third-rounders next year. But if the Chiefs surprise, it'll more likely be a one, two twos and three threes. As we've seen, GM Trent Baalke is dangerous with extra picks in his hands. If Colin Kaepernick is very good, the Niners should be annual contenders for years with the picks laid out that way. Yeah, it's a new system etc, but they are also keeping a similiar defensive system and our new QB is supposedly a very smart vet. Shouldn't take him much time. But I also don't view last years team as a normal 2-14 team. |

I love how you try to act as if Genos career is over, though. Time will tell how that decisions ends up. Let's look back in 4 years and see who made the better decisions. Quote:
Alex Smith started a grand total of 75 games for the 49ers according to profootballreference That's only 58% of the games played by the 49ers since he was drafted. I don't care about the reasons. Being effective when healthy is part of availability. Last edited by BossChief; 05-13-2013 at 07:55 PM.. |

Yeah so that's why you have over 200 posts on here talking about Alex Smith because you're tired of hearing about him right? You pathetic old man you need this debate to give you something to do. My goodness you're a loser, you're a 54 year old man that started an online fan club for Kaepernick, no one likes you or your stupid ass "Homers for Kaepernick" garbage on the Niners forum. If this is how I spend my time in 30 years when I'm your age I hope someone would put me out of my misery.

I don't necessarily know if the old was complete shit or it was a top down negativity that destroyed the team chemistry.
Ever work for a company/boss that was just a complete jagoff? Everyone seems to suck all that much more. Change the boss with someone people respect and want to work for and it's amazing how much better everyone becomes at their job. Peeholi and his despotic attitude was incredibly detrimental to this team. And, at least with Haley, the players knew that the coach had their back even if he was a raging lunatic with low head coaching skills. Crennel just didn't give a rats ass and let Pioli control the franchise and team. And you had guys like Brian Daboll, who had absolutely no business being in this business. Simply by having Dorsey and Reid as GM and Head Coach, you'll see a +4/5 game win increase. Just because they aren't Peeholi. You'll see another +3/4 win increase due to the very good coaching staff that they've assembled to go along with a pretty talented roster. This team will be competitive. This team will challenge for the AFC West division title. 9 or 10 wins is definitely not out of the realm of possibilities to go along with a first round playoff victory. While Alex Smith isn't the end all, be all of NFL QB's, he will perform well in a ball/clock control West Coast type of offense enabling our defense to remain effective through a full game. You let Charles work behind that offensive line, run good, high percentage receiving routes and let that defense absolutely tee off on the opposing QB like it should. How many real opportunities did Hali and Houston get last year? Not much and they still racked up 9 and 10 sacks respectively when they were basically defending the run for 70% of the time as the Chiefs were so farging behind so quickly in every game all season long. It's going to be a completely different animal this next season. |

After 2-14 and the worst team in the history of the Chiefs 8-8 would not be a failure - it would be a good first step. Anyone that expects much more under the circumstances is completely unrealistic. Delusional even.
