Big Bang Theory: Main actors agree to $1 million per episode...

Not bad work if you can get it...

It's $1 million each for the actors per episode. The advertisers must pay ridiculous amounts to sell their products.

Wow 1 million. That dude might be the worst actor, the least funny actor, per dollar earned in the history of time.

I just would like to say that I think you are wildly misinformed about the Friends cast.

1. Matt Leblanc - in season four of EPISODES on Showtime.
2. Courtney Cox - season 6 of Cougartown. (she should be on her third contract by now - at least)
3. Matthew Perry - makes a pilot every year with a huge penalty if it doesn't go to series.
4. Jennifer Aniston - has made tons of studio movies since Friends went off the air, including Marley & Me, Horrible Bosses, We're the Millers, He's Just Not that Into You, Just Go With It.
5. Lisa Kudrow - Exec produces three different shows, including web therapy and The Comeback, both of which she stars in. She also was on Scandal last year with her best friend and producing partner Dan Bucatinski.
6. David Schwimmer - this is the most interesting one. Schwimmer reinvented himself as a director, including the drama TRUST starring Clive Owen. He's been doing a ton of theater, as well and almost exclusively drama. Dude could return to TV in a heartbeat if he wanted.

After this thread and a myriad of facebook posts over this subject I believe I have narrowed down the most divisive issues of this era:

1. Abortion
2. Israel and Palestine
3. One's opinion of the Big Bang Theory

Love the BBT, but I admit the show is on the decline and has been for a couple of seasons. The Leonard "relationship problem" episodes can be quite annoying.

I said "most" because I knew Jennifer had work. Still she has fared better than Cox. I read an article that the others had trouble for awhile as actors, because they were typecast and were not landing any star roles. Or it was called the "Curse of Friends". It contained interview information too. Joey, or Matt, had his spinoff show cancelled due to poor ratings. Cox's show "Dirt" was cancelled in 2008 because it flopped and had poor ratings. Things got so bad she even got a real estate license but then she landed Cougar Town. But that moved from ABC to tbs and the audience for it has continued to drop. LLisa Kudrow has had flops since Friends. "The 46-year-old blonde, who played Phoebe Buffay, has appeared in a series of forgettable, mostly supporting roles in a string of second rate comedies, including the 2007 turkey P.S. I Love You." I knew Schimmer got involved in theater but it's a small theater and his success has been limited as a film director and has "expressed frustration with not landing any star acting roles in big budget movies that he had hoped for."

I wouldn't call any of that a flourishing career comparable to what they had on "Friends."
One leading American casting director told me this week: 'Matt's career is flatlining. It might seem like he's lowering himself to take this new cable series, but it's a case of needs-must to try to keep his profile up. The simple fact is, he's just not getting offered good parts.'

But he has not been alone in suffering what has become known in Hollywood as 'The Curse of Friends'.

I was going to post something similar.

Kudrow also EPs 'Who Do You Think You Are?' The show that traces the genealogy of celebrities, on CBS I believe.

Web Therapy is an awesome concept for a small budget comedy in the internet age. Kind of reminiscent of Dr. Katz, Kudrow's character is an entitled wasp who provides online psych counseling in short 5 minute sessions. It's mostly a chance to ad lib and riff comedic bits between the characters chatting in Skype sessions, delving into family relationships and business adventures and plots and schemes.

Episodes is pretty great as well. Kind of a mash up of Entourage with The Player and The Office BBC. It has the Entourage douchebaggery, but plays it as dark comedy. Basically a married pair of screenwriters get their BBC sitcom optioned by Hollywood and Hollywood proceeds to dbag the whole shebang up. Their original story was about a beloved old English schoolmaster, and they turn it into LeBlanc as a hockey coach at at a private school. It's a shit show, no one likes working on it, its in constant danger of cancellation for even shittier shows, and no one can keep their genitals covered.

Both get a recommend from me.

I've never been able to sit through an episode it's so incredibly lame. God bless those actors for being able to cash in on a show that's so unfunny and unoriginal.

She's been in some critically acclaimed material. Really, though it's mainly been Jennifer Aniston who wound up with her pick of A-list projects whereby she achieved movie stardom. Kudrow lacks star power. Jen has it.

While I don't disagree with the general point here, I think it's a tough to really take anything from it in a vacuum. My guess is that it's pretty rare for sitcom actors to go on to bigger and better things in general. BBT will likely not be an exception, but that doesn't take away from the show or the actors in it.

I wasn't trying to take anything away from the actors. I was only reporting what I had read about their difficulties post Friends. Their residuals from syndication continue to make them money. It was a good vehicle for them as an ensemble.
