According to Adam Sheffter of NFLN.

Just saw on the ticker.

Chiefs receive the Vikings 1st round pick (17) and both 3rd round picks (73,82) in the 2008 draft.

Jay Glazer, of FOXSports.com, reports the Minnesota Vikings have agreed to terms on a contract with Kansas City Chiefs DE Jared Allen. The Vikings will give the Chiefs their 2008 first-round draft pick, two third-round picks and the teams will swap sixth-round picks with the Vikings acquiring Allen. Allen has also agreed to terms on a six-year deal worth just under $74 million with $31,000,069 guaranteed. No. 69 is his jersey number.

I remember when the Cowboys had the best young RB in the league and traded him for a bunch of draft picks. Worked pretty well for them.


I hate to see Allen go, but with the way things were stacked, I think this is the best solution for the Chiefs. I doubt he would have performed up to last year's level here with the grudges he would have had. Also, being disgruntled could have rubbed off on other players.

Getting a mid-first and two third rounders for a guy originally drafted later in the 4th is a pretty good investment IMO. Hopefully we can get a couple of serious playmakers with those picks.
