As I live in Vancouver...and we are hosting the world..let me say good luck to all the American athletes....I'll be cheering for Americans' Vonn and that red-headed snowboard dude...but Hockey...gotta be Canada. Enjoy!

I rode a couple lifts with a guy who's niece skiid with her from the time she was 2 years old. His sister is really good friends with the family and said she's just about then nicest person you'll ever meet.

And evidently that little town she's from (Edwards) used to be little more than a trailer park on the outskirts of Vail before it turned into a little suburb a few years back. Shiffrin and River Radamus are both from that same little 'burb.

Shiffrin is getting a lot of press because she's absolutely DOMINATED women's downhill for the last several years and everyone likes her. And she's a good story. Unfortunately she imploded. It doesn't detract from her greatness, but yeah - it's been a pretty catastrophic Olympics for her.

Seems legit. She comes across as very genuine and down to earth. It doesn't seem like anyone from anywhere is taking any joy in her struggles. Just a bummer she had to have it go down on really the one stage anyone outside of professional ski junkies cares about. My guess would be she uses it as motivation and comes back full force in 2026 but we'll see.

Her interviews are sweet. She seems to genuinely try to answer every question as thoroughly as possible and 100% from the heart. Nice kid she is.

NBC needs to lose their broadcast rights the next time it is up. The graphics are dated, and the broadcasts look like nothing has changed in 20 years. Why are they not partnering with AWS to show meaningful stats, speeds, etc is beyond me. Every other sports broadcast is doing this. I assume NBC is not because there is no competition for broadcasting the olympics.

How can a person born in the USA, trained in the USA go play for another country? Many times they aren't good enough. Like Chris Kaman when he played for Germany in basketball.

I have no clue how the USA had a german soccer coach for so long. It's such bullshit. Coaches, players. All should have to be American. Same for any other country, otherwise, what are we even doing here? Why put a nation on the jersey?

Well, for the most part, that's what the USA does (invites all sorts of people in). What is "American" to you? They are official citizens. How much more American can they be?

That’s a completely different situation. jurgen klinsmann Was hired to coach the usmnt (which I assume you’re taking about) and guide the youth leagues.

He wasn’t an athlete representing their country.

Their are numerous American coaches, coaching teams all over the world abs Vice versa.

The athletes themselves aren’t coaches.

I like these semi amateur hockey players. Love these games. I was raised that the Olympian’s were all amateurs which made watching the games so fun. Once all the “pro” athletes took over, it was just another weekend of mostly meaningless sports

But if the make women’s biathlon and Curling a bikini sport, they have my attention lol

Men's hockey team shits itself in the quarter finals. Gives up the tying goal with under a minute left and then has 5 players take a bunch of vanilla shots in the shootout to lose 3-2
