Huge, Huge News

HBO has given the production order.

They will be filming the pilot episode of A GAME OF THRONES.

It's just the pilot so far. They'll need to see that before they decide whether to proceed with a full season's episodes. So let's all hope the pilot will kick serious ass.

It should. David Benioff and Dan Weiss did a terrific job with the script. And yes, all of you can relax, it's very faithful. Dan and David will be the executive producers for the pilot and (we hope) the eventual series.

More details when I have 'em. The news is very fresh. HBO just issued their own press release, which should be up on their website soon, if it's not there already.

Winter is coming to HBO. Hot damn.

I suspect that GoT has a good chance of winning the drama emmy. I realize Mad Men is the incumbent, but it isn't around this summer. I'm surprised Breaking Bad isn't on the list. The Good Wife? Are you kidding me? And Friday Night Lights? Boardwalk Empire was this year's darling, so it could well win, although as much as I've seen (two episodes so far), it's good, but it's not in GoTs league. It did, however, net a larger audience (I think).

Note: Breaking Bad didn't air any eligible episodes. That explains that.

Game Of Thrones, Mad Men and Friday Night Lights are three of my all time favorite shows. I'll be happy with any three of them taking home the prize. I'm rooting for Friday Night Lights because it's one of the best network shows I've ever seen and it ran it's final season. The rest of them will be around next year.

However, if it isn't Friday Night Lights.... it really hope it's Game Of Thrones.
