HBO greenlights A Game of Thrones pilot! (spoilers)
EDIT: Changed the original header to mark this as the thread where spoilers are allowed (but not necessarily recommended...). Created a new, spoiler-free thread for Ice and Fire virgins...
This is awesome... Huge, Huge News Nov. 11th, 2008 at 10:29 PM HBO has given the production order. They will be filming the pilot episode of A GAME OF THRONES. It's just the pilot so far. They'll need to see that before they decide whether to proceed with a full season's episodes. So let's all hope the pilot will kick serious ass. It should. David Benioff and Dan Weiss did a terrific job with the script. And yes, all of you can relax, it's very faithful. Dan and David will be the executive producers for the pilot and (we hope) the eventual series. More details when I have 'em. The news is very fresh. HBO just issued their own press release, which should be up on their website soon, if it's not there already. Winter is coming to HBO. Hot damn. Last edited by keg in kc; 04-25-2011 at 03:58 PM.. |

Seems to have started picking up speed around the time of the Sharpe's movies. He did a whole string of those. Maybe he doesn't want to get stuck in the same role for years again!

I also have to admire the variety of deaths. Not just a bunch of shootings. They pitch a role to him that ends with "and then you die," maybe he doesn't go for it. But, "and then you are pulled apart by horses," or "and then you are dropped on a satellite," or "and then the stampede of cows runs you off the cliff," well, who wouldn't take those?

Maybe he won't get killed in this one:
'Games of Thrones' star Sean Bean in talks to join Julia Roberts in Snow White film 13 hours ago | Hitfix "Game of Thrones'' Sean Bean is in negotiations to join Relativity's untitled Snow White film, according to EW.com. This Snow White is the one starring Julia Roberts as the Evil Queen, Armie Hammer (The Winklevoss Twins in "Social Network") and Lily Collins ("Abducted") as Snow White. It's not to be confused with Universal's "Snow White and the Huntsman," starring "Twilight's" Kristen Stewart, Chris Hemsworth ("Thor") and Charlize Theron ("Monster"). It's not clear who Bean will play in the Relativity film, but he will join the shoot that's already happening in Montreal. The film is being directed by Tarsem Singh ("The Cell," the upcoming "Immortals"). Besides HBO's "Game of Thrones," Bean is probably best known for playing Boromir in the "Lord of the Rings" films. He'll soon be seen in "Age of Heroes" and "Cleanskin." The untitled Snow White is scheduled to be released nationwide March 16, 2012. http://www.hitfix.com/articles/games...now-white-film |

One report I read said Bean would be playing the King. Since I don't remember a King in the original Snow White story (assuming this report is accurate), I'm guessing he's toast.
