I love how this site has all these different types of threads
I have been doing Insanity for about eight weeks and I love the results. I can definitely notice a huge difference in not only my looks but my flexibility, jumping ability, and cardio stamina. I have found that as some others have noted less is more during the workouts. If you need an extra 15 or 20 seconds take it. It adds up to being able to do the next few minutes with much better quality. If you start up too soon you may only get the next 90 seconds in but with the extra 15 second break you will be able to get the next 120-150 seconds of the workout done. I would have almost completed the workout by now but right during the recovery week I got sick with a horrible cough that took about two weeks to go away. I tried doing the videos before I was completely recovered and the videos just destroyed me! So after about 2 weeks I finally got back into it and it was like I had never done it before. These videos are great but you have to eat good. And actually the most beneficial thing I have gotten is to eat five times a day the way the book says. I used to never eat breakfast but now I do and then between my breakfast, lunch, and dinners I eat a granola bar or yogurt or something like that. Eating five times a day keeps you fueled. If you eat just a few big meals a day your body doesn't know it will get more nutrients so it stores more food as fat. By eating five times a day you keep the metabolism going and your body burning more calories. I have even noticed that as long as I eat the five meals a day, I am okay to spoil myself and even eat some fast food for lunch or dinner. But on days where I skip breakfast and the between meal snacks, even if I eat super healthy for my lunch and dinner (salad, small turkey sandwich, etc.) I still don't have as good of results as the days where I eat a bad lunch or dinner but did have my breakfast and between meal snacks. |

there's some good info/advice in here.
I'm gonna start over again Monday. Gonna do 1st month again. And I think I'm gonna pause the DVD for 10 or 15 seconds at the beginning of each break and let my heart rate come down more. From what I've read about over training....I do think this could help. I reckon a change in intake will be required as well....dang it. One thing I wish I could figure out though...if my heart rate is supposed to be a max of 147...and if I'm pushing it into the 150's...then supposedly I won't be getting the full benefit and calorie burn... But it just seems stupid and wrong to NOT push yourself as hard as you can...that's what Shawn T tells you to do. It's a dillemma!

I thought my performance was going the wrong way in the workouts, but my numbers were better in the fit test. I guess I just need to hike up my skirt and keep working.
How is restarting going Frank? Is your daughter still doing it with you? |

Starting over with week 1...After 3 weeks of Insanity, we had a nice day, didn't want to do a work out inside...decided to go on a walk-run (1 and a half miles)...you would think after 3 weeks of Insanity, my body could take it...WRONG..I got shin splints ( which I've always had to fight with)...had to sit out a week....So i'm starting over.

For you guys that get shin splints are you addressing them?
I used to get them real bad but now I have no issues at all. The most important thing I got are the elastic leg/calf supports. Real simple ones (no preformed shape, black, elastic/stretchy) like basketball players sometimes wear on their arms. They are just like $5 at Dicks. I also invested in some nice shoe inserts. Those are great for entire foot and leg support as well as keeping the shoes in good condition. The leg supports make the most difference for me by themselves with regards to shin splints and the shoe inserts help that much more. |

When I am doing the Insanity, my legs and knees are just fine. It's when I decide to go on a walk-run that it screws me up...won't be doing that again...I am see results with the Insanity, not as fast as I would have liked, but I am not doing a real diet, just watching how much I eat.

I also have some compression wraps but it is very important to wrap them for The outside in. The biggest thing though is to stretch my calves a LOT. |

There are a couple of other spots to try. One is at the base of neck on the sore side, down along the spine about three inches. The other is under the edge of your shoulder blade. You have to wrap your arm around your opposite side to pull the shoulder blade over to the outside. Then feel along the area now between the spine and shoulder blade. I had a rotator cuff that got progressively more sore until it got to the point I couldn't lift my arm over my head. After working on a tender spot about in the middle of the upper back, between the shoulder blade and collar bone (it was almost under the collar bone), the pain almost completely went away and completely faded a couple of days later. http://www.triggerpointbook.com/shoulder.htm http://www.round-earth.com/ShoulderPainIntro.html (4 and 5) http://www.pressurepointer.com/Press...nterManual.pdf (page 13) |

Did the fitness test today. I'm ashamed.
I'm also 100% sure that the timer goes faster during the rest periods than the exercises. Everytime he introduced a new exercise, I found myself thinking, "This man is ****ing insane!" But yeah, there is literally no way to go but up from here.
