On opening day I wonder how many people will cheer for Rich Gannon?

I hope our fans don't insult our new QB and coaching staff along with our other players by doing so. We should boo him and the Raiders for the scum they are. Yea Green boo Gannon.

Actually, you are both correct. In the comic, the Hulk's alter ego was named Bruce, but on the television series, they inexplicably changed his name to David.
No actually, in both the comic book and the TV series the man's name is Dr. David Bruce Banner.

In the comics, he was referred to as Bruce. In the series he was referred to as David.

In both, the name was Banner, not Bannon.

Bonus points if you can name his teen sidekick.

You're making me miss the comics.

I was more of a Spiderman fan (no, not Brock Middlebrook, or Andre Rison, hell, did he even know who he was from one day to the next?) and The Fantastic Four, but I believe the teen sidekick name was Rick, tho I'll never be able to remember the last name.

Yeah, Rick Jones. I was a fan of the web-slinger myself, also the FF. Still have quite a collection (2 army foot lockers), though it's nothing like it once was.

Bob Dole liked the Fantastic Four, but never really got into the comic thing too much. Bob Dole spent most of his spare change on Wacky Packages and Cracked Magazine.

What the heck happened to the site(s) that were discussed earlier in the thread? Bob Dole wanted a humor injection and both Gannon sites are gone and Bob Dole can't find an explanation...

I decided to let someone else run with the Banner thing (having written a short story for Marvel on the Hulk, I have access to reference material).

Just for the record: The Hulk was originally named Bruce Banner. Then they were having problems with copyright and royalties with the TV show, so they changed it to David Banner. Once all the lawyers were happy, they retconned the comic series to add David as his first (but unused) name. Gotta love the lawyers and beancounters who screw the talent.

Brock> I understand. Between my wife and I, I've got close to 42 long boxes of comics stored away. Unfortunately, none of my original collection survived my divorce. But the new stuff is fun, and I primarily only buy stuff that people I know (and like) are working on. Especially guys doing independent work.

Dole,

I can't get an explanation either. Stalker took his down because it had apparently "served its purpose".

Denise took hers down because she was pouting. I guess.....

Wow.....so were you a "fanboy?" :D

Read the Hulk as a kid and later as an adult guilty pleasure...A writer I dream to be, and if successful I'd love to go back and write for Marvel or one of the Comics I loved as a kid. When I heard Kevin Smith did a stint on DD I had ta' check it out.....

I'd love ta' discuss more on the subject, just not in here...:D

Fanboy.... No, not really, but I did collect comics in college (beat the hell out of reading the text books). Been reading comics since 1965 and started writing them in 1992 (after I got back from Desert Storm). Mainly worked independents, except for the one short story I sold to Marvel/Byran Preiss.

I enjoy being in the comic industry, even if it's on the fringes. But I admit, I'm highly jealous of the artists. I can see the pictures so clearly, but it just doesn't reach my fingertips. That's probably why my scripts have so much detail in them, it's like I'm writing things for a camera.

Not quite appropriate for the subject, agreed. Drop me a Smoke Signal sometime if you're interested.

Im really sorry I missed this thread last week, I didnt get to see all the bruhaha that was caused by the parody site, but I did read the balance of the thread and have to say it was quite funny.

As I said in one of the early posts on this thread, D had a link to an 'anti-chiefs' site that she labled 'not for the sense of humor challenged'. I remarked that it was odd that she put that on there because there are many things (her gannon shrine in particular) she does not have a sense of humor about.

KCGS's parody site proved beyond a shadow of a doubt, just how little 'sense of humor' she had in a wonderful display of exposing once again yet another double standard of hers and she all to predictably started raging about lawsuits and libel and all that other stuff that good little totalitarians do.

To her, if it's mean and vindictive in a joking way that's not aimed at something she holds dear, it's 'funny' and for those that need to have a sense humor.

if it's mean/vindictive in joking way that is aimed at something she holds dear, it's not funny and those that laugh about it are racist, homophobe, wife beaters, [insert other boogie man here].

Cudos to KCGS...it was time well spent.
