The Pioli Watch Thread

I'm hijacking the thread starter to use for an "updates" area. Sorry cardken. Here are a few recent updates:

Pioli would find a warm welcome in Kansas City. At the last Chiefs' home game, shortly after the embattled Carl Peterson resigned after 20 years as president, general manager and CEO, several signs were spotted in the crowd proclaiming, "We want Pioli." Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.

And as to the notion of the Browns wanting to force the issue, one of our readers pointed out Wednesday that the Browns went down this same path ten years ago, when they wanted a quick answer from Brian Billick — and got Chris Palmer instead.

So just as Billick landed in Baltimore, the Browns could be pushing Pioli into the arms of the Chiefs.
Maybe Clark is the nnamed source

I hope so. I also hope Pioli doesn't land a ridiculous contract that raises the bar for GM contracts.

Not as a GM candidate, that I can recall.

You might be thinking of Jim Schwartz, the DC, who may get a HC job.

There was speculation about Floyd Reese, who was with the Titans a couple of years ago.

Hunt could talk to him at any time, so I doubt he's really a consideration.

Thank goodness.

I like Pioli, but in reality he's a better fit in Cleveland. They already have the 3-4 installed there and have had Crennel attempting to emulate Bellichek's game-plan anyway. I can see them landing Pioli and then going heavily after Mangini.

Yeah, I found a list of potentials on NFL.com:
