Richardson, Albert, Winston in PFF OT ratings today

http://www.profootballfocus.com/blog...nsive-tackles/

Quote:
Today I’ll be looking at offensive tackles and tomorrow I’ll move onto guards, before finishing with centers, tight ends, and running backs in the days that follow.

How I’ll be doing that is pretty simple: three years of data from our Pass Blocking Efficiency numbers–a stat of ours that shows which players are giving up the most (and least) pressure relative to how much they’re on the field in pass-blocking situations, factoring in the nature of the pressure as well.

It works itself out by first adding sacks to three quarters the value of the total number of hits and hurries then dividing that result by the player’s pass-blocking snaps. Multiply by 100 and subtract that from 100 and you have the PBE. The closer the final result is to 100 the better.
Cliffs:

Richardson the 6th worst OT over 3 years.

Winston the 8th best. Albert 12th, with precious few left tackles ahead of him.

No shit. Not to mention good TE play can be a fantastic crutches for any inexperienced or inferior QB. Look at the Colts, making sure to get Luck two of them. Actually, the QB doesn't have to be bad or inexperienced at all, look at Tom Brady with his TE's. Fact is, a good TE will likely see favorable match ups most of the time, and it's fairly easy to take advantage of those match ups, because more information often than not, the TE's route is a high percentage option. Basically a safety valve option with a bit better results.

Making the Gonzo trade even more idiotic...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

As I said in th eother thread, that was not a bad trade.

Needed to find a replacement that was a better teammate, but Gonzo needed to go.

I didn't really have a problem with the Gonzo trad either. He wanted out, fine.

A trade is evaluated by what you gave and what you got.

We got horse-****ed on that deal...

We got Arenas, who does a pretty solid job doing whatever it is that he does.

While he has been somewhat productive in ATL, he's gone downhill fairly fast. I'm not sure we would have gotten as much out of him here. Plus, he was/is pretty much a jackass teamate.

Also, if we don't trade TG I doubt he's still playing. He wanted out of KC badly, and I think he would've only played one maybe two more years if he stayed.

Oh, my mistake. I thought you would look at those numbers knowing from memory that few, if any, were TD passes that were in the air more than ten yards, which would then exemplify the point. You know, the one point that Matt Cassel throws a lot of short passes and the receivers -- Jamaal Charles, Bowe, Moeaki and the rest of the guys on that 2011 team made YAC for his success.

We got horse-****ed on that deal because Pioli took Javier Arenas with that pick, rather than addressing the huge need at NT with Terrence Cody.

The pick was premium.
Th eactual selection wasn't.

So, by every method of evaluation ever used to judge a trade we got bent over and sodomized with a rusty power tool...

If a buy a new phone at a good price, then throw it against the wall, did I get bent over by the seller?
