At this point, I have nothing to prove and try to avoid getting into situations where I would have to use a gun, and I avoid donnybrooks. There is nothing to gain and it's just not worth it, if it can be avoided.

A home invasion isn't necessarily a life or death situation. More often than not, they're not coming in to kill you, they're coming in because they want your shit. Although you will turn it into a life or death situation the second you pull a gun.

Well if you decide to use a gun, you might as well kill him, as nowadays with the amount of insane lawsuits people could fill, it seems like you could get in legal trouble from simply protecting your property.

I don't think people realize how much ****ing damage a baseball bat would do. And I am not a small guy. Knock 'em out until the cops get there. Not to mention the trouble of shooting a gun in pitch black at night. Again, this only goes to situations where home invasions are people breaking in to get your stuff, not the ones where they are out for blood. And it seems like many home invasions today are poorly planned and simply people looking to steal things.

Do you own a gun?

Yeah, if you're buying a gun solely for the purpose of home security, you should get a shotgun. All you have to do is point the barrel in the general vicinity of the target and you're pretty much guaranteed to do some damage.

Plus a good shotty is generally cheaper than any decent handgun with stopping power.

No, I don't. Never been my thing. I'm all for other people having them though. Like I said earlier, I'd love to hear more stories about one who sucks the peniss like this guy breaking into the wrong house and getting blown the **** away.

You can't just leave loaded guns in rooms with kids like that. It appears that she never had time to get a gun safe out of a cabinet or drawer, open it, get the gun and shoot anyway. It looked to me that the man was moving pretty quickly through the house.

By the time she got the gun safe, entered a code/key, and got the gun, he would have been upon her like a fly on shit.

It says the deadbolt was engaged and he kicked the door in.

Even if she had an alarm the police/security would have been there in what, 15, 20 mins in a city like that?

How would you defend your family against this?

How would you defend your family against this if you lived with many acres around you?
It seems to me that a dog provides a level of home security that even a gun can't.

I'm not a big gun guy either and only have a pistol that I hope I never have to use. If I do use it though, I would make sure they were dead. A lot less legal mess if you do decide to fire a gun at someone who comes into your house. You don't want to have a he said/she said kind of bullshit in today's courts.

Most people aren't wired to take another person's life and that's a good thing for the most part. I know I would have no problem and I know my wife wouldn't either. Most people can't deal with what comes after shooting someone so they hesitate or find a reason not to shoot.

Oh yeah, if you're going to fire at them, you empty that clip. No question about it. Dead men tell no tales.

I don't know specific laws in MO, but my guess would be that you'd be protecting your family and property and wouldn't be prosecuted.

Baseball bat, yes, does good damage, but you have to get too close.

Shotgun, yes, good points if you can aim in general direction while under attack.

Sucks the penis (!) understandable comment, but "what if" in real life? Would you be prepared? What would you do to prepare your FAMILY for something like this?

But in the situation presented in OP?????? Realistically?

What can anyone do to protect family and home for such an invasion? I'm honestly curious.................................................................

There's a little truth to that. Being racist isn't against the rules. How are we supposed to moderate that? Using slurs is. Just checked the mod forum. There are zero reports on this thread. You think somebody is using a slur or evading a filter, report it and we'll decide.

Prison politics 101

http://www.thubtenchodron.org/Prison..._politics.html

"Another element in prison politics is the pecking order. When 2,000 men live together, there are a lot of wannabe alpha males. Inmates who are in for sex crimes are considered the lowest of the low and are to be avoided or exploited for money. All other prisoners are considered to be "stand up guys," because they are in for what are called "solid crimes," which basically means they didn't commit a sex crime. These men are accepted by others and have higher ranking."

This is why I advocate the revival of medieval weapons and the teaching of how to use them. You could easily walk around the house with a sword of any size securely in a sheath and be fine. If she had a rapier or maybe even two with her. He'd be skewered like a pig by now. I might start a movement about this.
