I wish to god there were more people out there keeping loaded weapons handy and were blowing away people who were committing heinous acts like this, because I do believe it would act as a damn good deterrent. But the sad truth is, for most people, there is no way to defend yourself from such an incident.

I have no way to protect myself or my family in a situation like this. I'd probably be cowering in a corner pissing myself.

More people need to get there. I would have no problem with it if it came down to him and I, or protecting a member of my family. I also have 25 years of martial arts experience so if it came down to a situation where there wasn't a gun, I can go medieval if I have to.

At this point, I have nothing to prove and try to avoid getting into situations where I would have to use a gun, and I avoid donnybrooks. There is nothing to gain and it's just not worth it, if it can be avoided.

Most people aren't wired to take another person's life and that's a good thing for the most part. I know I would have no problem and I know my wife wouldn't either. Most people can't deal with what comes after shooting someone so they hesitate or find a reason not to shoot.
