Agreed but you can't blame him for that Colts playoff loss or even the NE (considering all the injuries we had).

I'd like to see him be more aggressive in the playoffs, take more chances but he is who he is.

Why is Steve Bono a "terrible comparison" to Alex Smith?

The Chiefs went 13-3 with Bono as their starting QB in '95 and like Alex Smith he was nothing more than a bystander to that success and ultimately the Chiefs failed in the playoffs because of his limitations.

Just like Bubble Screen Alex Smith.

Did you watch the Pittsburgh playoff game last year?

I do blame him for both. He is the franchise player. When leanded o. He has to make the plays....

He doesn't. So you get 1-3.

It's pretty entertaining to see Tiger say this QB class sucks, tell us to trust Dorsey, then watch Dorsey trade up for Mahomes, then turn tail and then ignore his own messiah QB say that this is his last season.

Managed the game? Look at the ****ing drives for that game.

Drive 1 - 10 plays and we punt.
Drive 2 - INT
Drive 3 - 5 plays and a FG
Drive 4 - 6 plays and a FG
Drive 5 - 3 plays and we punt.
Drive 6 - 5 plays and we punt.
Drive 7 - 11 plays and a TD.
Drive 8 - 6 plays and we punt.
Drive 9 - 4 plays and a FG.
Drive 10 - End of game. Doesn't really count.

The defense gave him plenty of opportunities and he came out of it with 16 offensive points. That's ****ing pathetic.

The glaring improvement just didn't happen. His pocket composure never hit a high level that some expected, and he stopped using his legs much. There are still others to blame when it comes down to it.. but the bottom line is.. his play hasn't been good enough to lock him in for multiple years at high salary.

KC was wise to get their guy in the draft.

It wasn't fair to assume that. It was a hope-based belief that required either Chiefs or Alex Smith homer-ism. Many of us called him being this exact guy from Day 1.

Also Mahomes better turn out to be good. I have faith in Reid to make it happen but it better happen otherwise I am going to be furious. We are not that far off from a SB w Alex Smith. A lot of good players could have been taken that could have helped us more immediately. Alex Smith didn't say anything like that and he easily could have so lets give Alex credit for that. He also could have been a dick in SF when he got benched but he never was. He helped Kaepernick and kept his mouth shut. Class act.

The Chiefs ceiling under Alex Smith is pretty well established. He isn't getting better after 4 years. They are equipped to beat borderline playoff teams but not equipped to get past the elite teams.

In that sense, it doesn't really matter what they do to the team around him in the 2017 draft. There's not enough help there to make the team excellent enough around him.

Both of these are pretty silly to say.

All Smith had to do was compose himself in the pocket, continue to use his legs, and keep his eyes more downfield instead of the rush.

He simply did not progress... yet to the 2nd part of your post, the Chiefs were STILL the 3rd or 4th best team in the AFC.

It was a collaborative effort of poor run game, dropped passes, Reid's gameplan, and yes.. Smith's lack of progression (composure and aggression) that was the offense's undoing.

The talent is there though to win the SB. Smith, like most QBs, just needed better from those 4 aforementioned issues.

I wanted more for Smith, but frankly, it will be his own fault when he loses his job.

Because I wanted to see what the **** Murray had to offer with no expectations of him. I never wanted Alex Smith so I've never bailed on the team just Alex Smith.

I want to watch a home grown quarterback we drafted play. That is not unrealistic expectations of the franchise to root for.

It's not necessary to have more talent than Smith has.

He's got a PB WR, PB TE, the most electric player in the league in Hill, and a respectable (I'm still pissed we didn't draft a G/T) O line.

Alex has the weapons. Tools at his disposal aren't the problem...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

Not sure what your post is arguing from my own. I stated that the talent is there.

Just going through my aforementioned 4 things..

( 3, as we accept 1 was Smith not stepping it up)...

what does your post disagree with?

- poor run game. (ranked 20th) You say no?
- top 5 % in dropped passes? (ranked 4th worst) You say no?
- everyone bitched heavily about Andy's game planning.. now, no?

Don't you know it's Smith's fault that Charles/Tamba/Flowers went down with injury? Also his fault Bowe is a diva and couldn't keep his feet inbounds on a perfect throw to set up the score.
