As much as Matheny, I'd like to have seen Mabry's impact on him.
The Cardinals most assuredly didn't fleece Toronto in that trade, they'd make it 100 times out of 100. The Cardinals, in fact, still lost that trade by virtue of the fact that Jackson and Dotel could've been acquired for nothing more than the salary relief the Blue Jays gave the White Sox that morning to acquire them. The Cardinals wanted to get rid of a player to appease a manager. At the least they should've held out and sent him to the Rays for Cobb as rumored, then turned around and offered the salary relief for Dotel and Jackson. The players we got were huge, but they shouldn't have cost Rasmus. And yes, 1000X times yes, I'd give up assets for Jose Reyes. His teammates love him and he'd bring even more energy to the squad. He an absolutely perfect fit for the team.

Reyes is a great fit, but the cost in prospects, combined with his salary and complete inability to stay healthy gives me significant pause:
Breakdown of Reyes contract with #Marlins: $10 mil, $10 mil, $16 mil, $22 mil, $22 mil, $22 mil. $22 mil option on '18 with $4 mil buyout.

It would all depend on what you have to give up. If the Jays keep sucking tits, maybe a firesale goes down. I think Kozma is probably good enough, but Reyes would make this team way more scary.
Kozma's defensive statistics were actually a little surprising when I looked at them, I thought for some reason he had been worse. |

I don't understand why anyone thinks that trade is a remote possibility. Hell, let's trade for Trout too, that solves our CF problem for the next 15 years.

The national television deal for MLB doubles next year, that's a lot more revenue to all squads.
Reyes deal will appear plenty reasonable in short order, IMO. If all it took was Wong and a decent prospect, I'd do it in a heartbeat. But I doubt the jays move him, they have plenty of money and nothing much else in the pipe for shortstop.

I seriously doubt Reyes' ability to stay healthy. He's little different than Tulowitzki and Furcal in that regard. Good player, but he's not dependable.

Agreed, hes injury prone and his salary is just too much, otherwise I'd love to have him.
