I have been a coach of youth basketball, and if my team ended with 6 total fouls, I would've have been asking some pretty serious questions about their level of effort and aggression. Every player gets 5 fouls. If you're only playing 8 players deep, that's still 40 fouls to give in a game. You can go up to 32 fouls and still not lose a player.

6 fouls?

Wow.

Evidently that's all wrong. OSU wasn't shooting for shit, so MU should've put them on the stripe.

I have to be honest, that has to be one of the single dumbest things I've ever seen on this board. **** me that's reeruned. Out rebound a bigger team, tie them in O-rebounds, put 5 guys in double-figures and spend the last 15% of the game with your bench emptied and your starters resting and evidently you should've tried harder.

Beakers fans are right - they're not shitheads at all; just misunderstood.

MU beat OSU like a good team should beat a bad team at home. Don't understand what there was to argue about after that one.

Thanks for putting words in my mouth... seems to be a trend.

All I said is that it is amazing. I said nothing about officiating, I said nothing about home cookin'.

I also asked if anyone else could spot another top level program that had limited the calls against them as Mizzou has. I'll poke around a little bit later today.

If you want to make assumptions about the point I was making, feel free to so, it's your prerogative. Perception becomes reality.

I do think if you look around, you'll find a team getting 6 fouls total called against it is quite an achievement, like shooting over 60% from 3 point range, or a team averaging over 85% from the charity stripe.

Through the first half and for about the first five minutes of the second, this was the best defensive effort that Mizzou has shown all year; they played suffocating, smart, aggressive D by switching, moving their feet well, and boxing out.

It's too bad you didn't get a chance to see it.

I didn't see it. My wife and I have both been pretty busy, she's had some grant proposal deadlines and I've had some new courses to learn. Combine that with three busy kids, and an evening a home with the family is something special. Watching a Mizzou/OSU basketball game wasn't very high on the priority list for us as a family.

I'm much more interested in Lawrence High Freshman Girls versus Olathe North, or Lawrence-St. John's 5th Grade Boys versus Nativity these days as well. There's only so many hours in the week.

Don't let that stop you from checking the box score and spouting off to those of us who watched the game that this was either poor effort by Mizzou or poor officiating.

I would think that, as a coach, you would see a low foul total in a blowout win as a sign of great effort. After all, fouls tend to occur when players lazily reach instead of moving their feet to get into proper defensive position or try to block a shot after being outworked for post position or by going over the back on a rebound for which they failed to box out.

That's just me though. Maybe a scrappier team would have built more than a 35 point lead before clearing the bench with 6:00 left.

this is so true.... and the lead of the improved d is flip.... the last 2 games he has played have been his two best defensive games that i can remember.... he is now auctually moving his feet and getting in front of the player instead of letting him go by and poking around and trying to knock the ball out

Of course he did. We've got SEC money now. Why else do you think we have gone 5-0 in football and 24-2 in basketball since we announced the move (besides the SEC speed, of course)?

We're the hottest football\basketball program in the country, and we owe it all to dumping the Big XII on its ass.
