A few shots on goal doesn't make a sport exciting.

By soccer standards it was more exciting than average, though. I enjoyed some of the players going HAM and knocking heads and shit. Loved The Great Messi doing shit all in the biggest game of his life. LOL

Overall this world cup didn't convince me that the opinions I've formed about the sport can be changed, however. Despite living in KC now, I doubt I ever make it to a Sporting game. I'm sure it's even worse live, and with lesser talent.

I will say this, though. The sport is certainly amusing. It's a wonderful reflection of the world's cultures. It's entertaining if you're otherwise bored.

I doubt that very seriously, simple due to the nature of the game. I'd probably doze off without announcers.

Good one in a Seattle. Hate the Sounders but they earned another win.

Chances make it exciting because scoring a goal is so rare. Every time a goal is about to be scored people hold their breath.

You don't see the same excitement when a basketball, football or baseball team score. You know the other team will make a run and do the same.

With Di Maria injured Argentina had no one really capable of getting the ball to Messi in space, not really his fault...

Guy spent day in and day out watching something he says he hates. The whole thing is hilarious who gives a shit trying to take it seriously.

The World Cup games tend to be way more conservative with each teams' approach due to the nature of "one and done". I prefer watching the action of the MLS, a lot more chances, miscues, and general chaos going on. See the last KC Sporting vs Montreal game.

You do see the same excitement, IMO. And the fact you can anticipate the other team making a run makes it better.

Because, outside of hitting a baseball, the things American sports rate as a success worthy of counting towards a win are monumentally simple. That's why they can do them 5-6, 10, 20, 50 times a game.

The only thing that counts towards a win in soccer is putting the ball over the goal line inside the confines of the goal, one of the hardest things to do in all sports.

Complaining about the run of play in soccer is analogous to complaining that some biddy from the old country cooks all day to serve just a few people a lovingly prepared meal because McDonalds can pump out Big Macs at like 50-100 an hour.
