He doesn't have the potential to be, because he has literally never shown it on a football field.

Jon ****ing Baldwin has more potential to be a game changer because at least he made a couple of big-time catches in his life.

Dontari Poe hasn't done shit in college or in the NFL. I don't give a crap that he ran a nice 40 in shorts. Being a 350-pound Vernon Gholston isn't impressive.

Yeah, that's not an exaggeration. Nevermind that in week 11, the source you cite over and over and over again said he showed "amazing consistency" and at the time ranked 15th in run-stop percentage with a decent 7.5%.

Totally ridiculous. Baldwin is garbage. I have never liked the guy and warned people he was never going to improve. He doesn't have a ceiling. Poe has a huge ceiling.

Gholston's stock wasn't based on his combine. It was based on him beating up bad competition in college, and was based on a lousy scouting process that assumed he was a hard worker, even though everyone knew he's lazy once you take him out of the gym. Don't act like these are the same guy. Poe's physical skills aren't just above average like Gholston or Baldwin. They are freakish.

His upside is and always has been much better than these guys. And no, I am not changing course on that. I didn't like Gholston or Baldwin from the start.

I hate to wade into this acid bath again, but Gholston had one of the most ridiculous combines ever. The guy ran a legit 4.6, put up preposterous weight, had a 40+" vertical, near 10.5 foot broad jump, and had 22 sacks in the Big Ten his last two years in the conference. He obviously ended up being a soft player that lacked drive and any type of aggressive streak, but he didn't just have merely average physical tools.

He had ridiculous physical tools and big time college production. They didn't translate.

It would almost be impossible for Dontari Poe to not be a better pro than Gholston, but calling him freakish and Gholston above average from an athletic standpoint just annihilates any credibility and/or persuasiveness you have.

All I cared about this year primarily was that Poe showed he could be productive in subs and be an active pass-rusher. He largely disappointed but flashed at times. I hope to see improvement in that and ideally improvement in both playing 2-gap and 1-gap in base packages, as well as playing with a lower pad level and busier hands.
