Not a rumor: Ryan Lilja may be returning to KC
EDIT: No longer a rumor. The Chiefs have reportedly reached out to Lilja.
We're three deep at guard, however. If this is true, I think this portends ugly things for Rodney Hudson's recovery. I think the Chiefs may be angling for a patch at center. http://www.arrowheadpride.com/2013/4...-of-ryan-lilja The Return of Ryan Lilja? posted by The Gentry Apr 06, 2013 I've never had inside information before, but today I do. It's weird - and it was from out of the blue today - but I have it on good authority that Ryan Lilja is negotiating with the Chiefs to return for the 2013 season. That isn't to say that he would make the cut for the active roster after training camp, but I'd say he's got a damn good shot at that. What would you think to have Lilja back in the fold? — I ain't saying, cause if I do someone's gonna get mad Last edited by Direckshun; 04-09-2013 at 02:22 PM.. |

Dick Vermeil. How many "bubble" players can you think of that not only survived the regime change but also turned into pretty special talents? Brian Waters Jason Dunn Tony Richardson Dante Hall John Browning (well... kinda... he was a starter anyway) And that's ONLY counting his Chiefs players. If I knew anything about his Eagles team there would be GOBS more I could list for certain. Somebody page Rams Fan down here to get the list from St. Louis. |

if Alex Smith is here 5+ years or longer this team will never win anything and these coaches/GM will be fired and we will be back where we started, but this time with an entirely new team, as everyone with talent will be well passed their prime |

John Elway was not the same QB at 37 that he was at 27. He wasn't as mobile and didn't have the same zip on the ball. He still had a strong arm, but not that same arm that could sling it all over the yard the way he could when he was younger. He played in system that maximized his ability, and those Donkey teams were loaded with talent, on both sides of the ball, unlike in his earlier years. He was well past his prime. The difference between Elway and Smith is that Elway was arguably one of the top 2, or at worst 3 QBs of all time, while Smith is at best a top of the line game manager that needs his team to play at an extremely high level to have the kind of success that he had in SF in the last 2 years. Elway at 38 was still a better QB than Smith has ever been or will ever be.

You missed the point. Among all the greats in the game, John Elway is one of the rare exceptions that managed to win the big one beyond his prime years. Johnny Unitas, Bart Starr, Joe Montana were unable to match that. You have about the same hope of winning a SB with Alex Smith after the age of 33 as you do of winning a lottery with a ticket you picked out of the trash.

History tells us that the likely hood of winning shit after the age of 33 is very minimal. So the window is relatively short with a mediocre 29 year old QB. You're just a ****ing moron that knows jack.

OK, whatever you say, milkman. You were wrong when you called it "best case", but now we know you really meant that it was just one guy's opinion, but that you chose your words poorly.

I'm saying that QBs, like Smith, who achieve their maximum potential have a window that lasts longer than age 33. I'm not saying that Alex Smith will even have a window. That remains to be seen.
