Well, We Probably Should Have a Brian Orakpo Thread...

If we keep playing like this, we won't be in a position to draft Stafford. It's not good or bad, it is what it is.

With that being said, a genetic freak like Rak daddy would go a long way towards fixing the ills of this defense. He's not as long as Michael Johnson, but he's fast, explosive, and incredibly strong. Plus, he's taken boxing lessons, so Krumrie will love him with his ****tard slap-fight drill.

There could be worse selections in the 3-7 range where we will most likely choose.

I don't know if the difference in value between RT and RG is quite enough to offset the difference in ability between Shields and Kennedy.

Yeah, I forgot that Will Shields was Willie Roaf, John Tait, a roided up Welbourne, Casey Wiegmann, a healthy Priest Holmes, a non-concussed Trent Green, and a competent offensive coordinator all in disguise.

Just think how scary good the Chiefs defenses of the 90's would have been with Stubblefield. Thats the pick we traded for Joe Montana.

That's the whole point about this whole discussion, securing the O-line which makes or breaks careers, and if the BPA is an OL, DE, QB ect...take him. Try to get the best player possible

You may well be right, but even then, Shields wouldn't go ahead of guys like Garrison Hearst, Marvin Jones, or Chad Brown in that draft.

Shields was pretty darn good before Vermeil's circus ran into town.

No, it's not.

You are conflating one guy with being an entire O-line, while simultaneously being completely incapable of realizing that teams like the '99 Rams and '07 Patriots had far better offenses than we ever did with significantly worse offensive lines. That's not to take the Colts into account, who were every bit our rival on offense, despite the fact that outside of Saturday and Glenn, they mostly traded in poo on their o-line.

My God, look at the Cowboys O-line. Gurode, Adams, Leonard Davis, Columbo, and without Romo, that offense is absolute shit.

You are making a binary argument that if we don't throw all our assets at OL that we are somehow completely ignoring it.

History shows that you can find pro bowl level interior lineman with mid round picks, and even if you don't get a gem, you can still find tons of serviceable starters.

But it worked so well for Matt Millen.

Dude those teams had great lines. Infact, I believe The Rams had two 1st round picks on that line( Pace, Baron).

Alex Barron was drafted in 2005, long after the Rams had ceased to be any good. And Barron sucks anyway.

Those teams did not have great lines. The '99 Rams had Timmerman and Pace.

Alex Barron wasn't even drafted until 2005. I don't know WTF you are talking about.

The '99 Rams had 1 #1 overall pick, a 4th, 5th, and two 7th rounders on their line.

The '07 Pats had a 1, 2, 3, 5, and UD player on their line. And their #1 pick was the last of the first round.

The BPA, sucks if it's an OL, DE,QB ect... I get your drift. Draft for "positional value" is another way in saying need

No, it's a way of saying, "I'm not a ****ing moron, and I realize that there are still going to be a dickton of guards available in the 3rd round."

You don't even know what BPA is. You are going solely off of grades. Do you really think that a 3-4 team would taken Glenn Dorsey? Or a Cover 2 team take Vontae Davis in the top 5?

I'll reitirate once more If the BPA is a position "of great need" alright sweet, but if it's at another you got to take him because of the fact putting your absolute best players on the field.
