The fact that Kush was inactive a lot is worrisome.

The very fact that Mike McGlynn was not only on this roster, but allowed to start, is what worries me most about KC's line depth. I don't care if Kush is a backup center or not, he's played left tackle in college. Surely he could slide to left guard instead of McGlynn? That worries me about Kush.

What worries me is the OL coaches ability to coach. It seems that no matter how many times opposing lines ran twists and ther stunts on us, we never really learned how to block them. I put that on the coaches. When someone like myself (with just a backround in high school football) can identify what a DL is trying to do and the OL coach can't...that's a massive problem. It leads me to believe that they don't know fully what they are doing...and watching Kush play (impressively) in the finale last year and following it up with a very impressive preseason... makes me think the guys coaching the OL are fools. I hope I'm wrong. Especially being I was a big fan of their hires. |

They make nice arguments that used to appeal to me, but those kinds of pieces have simply lost their luster... the only consistent thread in any of their articles, is the avoidance of calling out Alex Smith. Its just all too easy to blame everyone but that guy, you know that guy, the one we paid elite money to? He not only didnt atleast get even with his first year here, he actually got WORSE... now, I do hear the calls that "well yeah but but, he had a tougher schedule so just getting almost even should be called a victory!". No... Smith was two years into this system and so were his backs, tight ends and most receivers. What about the line? pretty sure Aaron Rodgers wasnt complaining about his rookie center and guard when he won the Super Bowl. Long story short, Smitty can get bent... sick and tired of hearing the excuses... a guy with his check elevates the team and doesnt count on the defense and huge plays from checkdowns to save his ass. Its strange, I know, someone like me selling out like this... too bad, he killed my soul in three straight games and since then he is a pariah to me, doooooont care what you think. |

I think that late hit by Von Miller will always be on the back of Alex Smiths mind.
There was a late hit in the game before that one, too that started the confidence Alex had in sitting back and having any patience at all. The guy played rattled afterwards. |

They signed McGlynn off the street and started him immediately. That wasn't just one person's decision. They chose to go with the unknown over chemistry in a guy that had been on the roster for a while. It's not the coaches. It's the Kush. I admit, I liked what I've seen of him but there has got to be some things we aren't seeing.

Dorsey is huge on comp picks. Year 1 it got him Knile Davis. That was his plan last offseason.
So if Hudson demands too much, Dorsey isn't overpaying. We aren't overpaying him. We'll use the 3rd rd pick the following season. This is something the Packers did and did well as seen here. http://www.packers.com/news-and-even...1-a3a1df77e6ae That's why Dorsey drafts to replace. It gives us more chances to hit on players and far more flexibility to use picks to trade up.

^ Interesting theory
Since we're on the topic of OL, anyone ever find out what happened with Stephenson? It's just odd when Andy preaches having the "5 best guys on the line" whenever he has Kush and Donald constantly riding the bench. |

a) a bad attitude at having lost his status. b) lots of rust. c) most likely, a solid mix of both. He mostly looked like shit when let back in because, well because the only thing I can reasonably attribute that dropoff to is c) all three. Remember gblowfish talking about him skulking around by himself at the far end of the bench during the game, not engaged with the team, not nearby as things are going down? I do... the lesson here? dont count on that guy coming back. |

Stephenson participated in training camp and paid out of pocket to attend a six week camp with Jeff Allen. He was focused and ready for a great season. I'd be pissed as well if I was denied the opportunity to play, especially if I KNEW I was better than not one, but TWO guys ahead of me. If Stephenson isn't allowed to compete and win a spot in 2015, the Chiefs should cut him and allow him to play elsewhere. |
