Outside of Veach spending big at the deadline, there is no magic bullet... but a confluence of various happenings would certainly help
Berry coming back ready to roll Ward and Smith earning their way onto the field Gotta Turn Kpass loose on obvious passing downs All 3 of those will go a long way to putting some dazzle back in our razzle |

Offense is good enough to win the whole damn thing if the defense can just be mediocre instead of terrible. Push all the chips to center of the table. Trade whatever draft picks required to land some legitimate defensive talent from another team (or teams).

For those talking about how because we are scoring points we should expect to give up points That doesn't mean we're giving points up the right way.
We don't need constant pressure. But we need occasional pressure - teams desperate to put up points become desperate to throw downfield. We need to force turnovers and that doesn't happen if we give the qb 10 seconds to throw. Secondly, big plays aren't always a bad thing. I'd rather give up one big play and get the defense off the field faster than watch the constant surgical 10+ yard play drives. The bend don't break approach isn't good for mahomes. We need an aggressive defense that gambles. It may lead to some big plays but it will also create big plays too. We're already giving up a shitload of points. If we do that, I'd rather have a few game changing sacks and turnovers sprinkled in there. |

The good news is that they need occasional pressure and they GOT occasional pressure. The problem is that guys like Ben and Rivers are great QBs precisely because of how they handle pressure.
The way to get turnovers is to have DB's that don't suck. Quote:

Sutton blitzed more in the 2nd half and it worked beautifully. It caused 3 punts in the last 4 possessions. Steelers first drive of the 2nd half was a TD, but it was also the drive that Eric Murray ****ed up a perfectly called blitz which would have caused 3rd and 10+. I’m all for Sutton going full Gunther and blitzing the shit out QB’s over and over again unless it’s 3rd and short.

Something is totally off about that 2nd quarter. Either teams are adjusting to us. My opinion is either Sutton or Reid plays a "protect the lead" strategy. We can have a brilliant defensive strategy. But if we totally abandon that strategy because we're up a few scores, nothing will change. We got rid of the game manager qb. How do we stop Andy Reid from managing games too? If he committed to keeping his foot on the gas and realizing it's OK to build up big leads, maybe we'd actually look decent on defense. The second half blitzing was an adjustment. But the big difference may be that our defense was playing to win not to preserve. |

I don't think you can just constantly blitz, but you can't just sit back and bring 3. Just bring 4, sometimes 5.

Yeah, it is what it is.
They played a lot of zone it looked like and they struggled a bit there. I'd also like to see them bring Houston and Ford a lot more than they have but I'm guessing there is a reason they aren't. |

I noticed Sutton started rushing 3 on the first Steelers TD drive bc Big Ben was killing us in the middle of the field. We were trying to adjust.
Getting a healthy Eric Berry back is going to be so critical. Can’t help but think he would have been a big help vs the Steelers due to Jesse James going off on us.

On the touchdown he seemed to have gotten away from Murray, but Rape also had about a half an hour to throw the ball. |
