Interesting considering that Kansas has never finished ahead of Mizzou in Big XII football. Can the opposite be said about basketball?

Is that how rivalries are defined? We just have a different definition, I think. Can you please give me a clear definition of what you think a rivalry is? Is it the number of higher conference standings? I'm honestly curious.

The most expensive ticket to AFH for a conference game every year is the Mizzou game, and vice versa. Not sure how you can say football is a bigger rivalry when KU brought 11 fans to the last game (ever) between the two teams.

Your response shows what a gimmick the tourney really is. The best team in the country has a 50-50 shot at winning the title, and that seems ridiculously high.
I'd bet against them winning it. Let's say Kentucky has a 100% chance of winning in the first and second rounds and a 90% chance of winning each game until the final four and an 80% chance each game after that (all preposterously high). They would still be only slightly better than a coin flip to win the whole thing. If you give them only 99% in the first round and 98% in the second, it's 50%.

Yeah, that's way too high for UK. They're the best team in the NCAA, but their chances of winning will be pretty much equivalent to any other #1 seed. The tournament equalizes things.

A single elimination tournament will seldom give you the best overall team as the winner, when you have to win what 6 games in a row?
It happens but not very often. Hell I'd argue that the NFL doesn't give you the two best teams in the Final. MLB and the NBA, having best of series, IMO are the best way to get a true champion. In all honesty the BCS does a pretty damn good job of giving us the 2 best teams over a 4 month stretch. |
