Apparently he's a diabetic but doctors don't object to his two pizza a day habit.

They just bought the store around the corner from me. Boy does that place such for variety and options. But pretzel buns sure do look good. Too bad I can't eat 'em. I have looked up some recipes to make my own with spelt flour. I will not go without.

I had a delicious spread of Chinese dishes for lunch in Nanjing. I didn't take pictures because it might have been perceived to be rude.
Barbecued chicken -- with the bone sawed up into bite size pieces. Wild leafy vegetables with bits of tofu (looked like parsley, but very unique and delicious) Some kind of steamed vegetable similar to cucumbers. Surprisingly flavorful. Long green bean type vegetable chopped, mixed with other legumes, a little spicy wrapped in pancakes Salt duck A white, reed type vegetable. Pickled vegetables with a little heat on the back end. A hot (spicy) soup. I liked everything but the soup. |

I went to McDonald's, and ordered 2 double cheeseburgers with extra cheese (so 3 slices total) and fries. I was treated with 2 double hamburgers with no cheese (so 0 slices total) and cold fries.

I finally found some Chuck Eye steaks here in Arizona! I look every time I go into a store and it's never there. Scored a whopping 3 chuck eyes at Safeway this morning at 3.99/lb. I never knew about this cut of meat until you guys talked about it on here so I have never had it. Poor man's ribeye which sounds fine with me! I'd have bought more but that was all they had. Gives me hope for at least finding it here as that has been a struggle.

That's a great price for steak, what is everyone paying in K.C.? Round steak runs $4.99 a pound here in Blue Springs. Used to get pretty good charcoal steaks for that, but not anymore. |

For tonight's dinner I'm just beginning to make Orecchiette with Broccoli Rabe and Sausage with garlic, white wine, lemon juice, red pepper, and grated Pecorino Romano.
A nice glass of a dry white will taste just right!

I went out and bought some of that Old Bay Seasoning to cook up some shrimp. Boiled some shrimp in that with a bay leaf as someone suggested.
Main course was baked scallops again with some Old Bay, lightly crumbed and finished off in the broiler to a nice brown top. Quinoa cooked in chicken broth then tossed with some slivered almonds and topped with parsley. Carrots julienne mixed with asparagus for a veggie. Sliced mangoes and strawberries drizzled zig-zag in chocolate sauce. (Made from raw cacao powder.) |
