Anyone listening to 810? Their college football expert just picked Mizzou to beat Alabama in the SECCG...and said we would win easily.
Said he likes our chances for a national championship more than Alabama or Florida State.

Yeah, when I heard that I wondered if that's what he says on radio stations everywhere or if it was tailored to the audience. Apparently he's been down on Alabama's chances to win the SECCG all along though and as of now Mizzou is the most likely opponent so I guess it's consistent.

See I haven't followed MU closely this year in favor of KC. Side effect of assuming Franklin was going to play like ass and post a nice 2-6 record in the SEC. This season has just been icing on a nice cake so I'm happy if they wind up in a decent bowl game.
An appearance in Georgia Dome would be nuts.

My thinking as well. In fact, we're still going to have to play awfully well just to get to that game. None of the upcoming teams are going to roll over.

Nah, I can't get there. It's damn unlikely, don't get me wrong. But upsets are made by turnovers. Turnovers are made by pressuring the QB. Mizzou pressures the QB better than any team in college football (and almost exclusively through their front 4). And while 'Bama's defense is absolutely dominant, Mizzou presents matchup issues with it's WR size/speed that no other team 'bama has faced this year present. IF we're able to hold serve (huge if) and get there, Mizzou has as good a chance to beat 'Bama as any team in the country, FSU excluded. Matchups will be key and if there's any team that presents a difficult matchup for Alabama, it's Missouri. To say there's 'no chance' Mizzou can beat them is to also say that if they played 20 times, Bama would win all of them - I don't think so. With a few breaks and big plays, Missouri is capable of getting it done. It's unlikely, but not impossible.

His contention was that we have the best defensive line and the best skill players in the conference.

And the O-line is experienced due to last years attrition. We'll know more after this weekend, but this team has the look of a damn feisty opponent for the Tide.

Love guys like Britt. ** guy out of Nowhere, MO who blew out his ACL a year or so ago. But, the guy is also a champion wrestler and knows how to use quickness and leverage. People can bag on recruiting all they want, but Mizzou gets the kinds of players they want.

The teams that pull the elite recruits are able to keep someone like Britt at RT or even G. Mizzou has made him a credible LT at an extremely high level, but that's still not ideal. Ideal is getting guys like Rhodes with regularity so that if one of them doesn't develop like you'd prefer, you have another guy with the bulk and athleticism to step up. If that player hits his ceiling, he's elite. Britt, unlike so many, actually hit his ceiling. If we can get more talented players to do the same, we're going to be better off (obviously). That's the next step I want to see in the program.
