If the Chiefs go 8-8 or better 49ers get a 2nd round pick.
A third- or second-rounder from Kansas City, the remnant of the Alex Smith deal. Now it can be told: The second draft choice San Francisco will receive from the Smith deal will be K.C.'s second-rounder in 2014 if the Chiefs go 8-8 or better this season. It will be a third-rounder in 2014 if Kansas City is under .500 this season.
So: San Francisco will probably have first-, second- and four third-rounders next year. But if the Chiefs surprise, it'll more likely be a one, two twos and three threes. As we've seen, GM Trent Baalke is dangerous with extra picks in his hands. If Colin Kaepernick is very good, the Niners should be annual contenders for years with the picks laid out that way. He's not consistent enough. Take away a couple of miraculous SB plays and his 2011 season and there's really nothing that's eye popping about him. But I'd definitely put him first in line behind the elite QBs in the league. I think there are only 4 truly elite QBs in the league right now and thats Brady, P. Manning, Rodgers and Brees. |

For ****'s sake... I love this logic. Ya know what? Take away barry bonds' hrs and he isn't a home run hitter. Take away all Picasso's paintings and he is shitty artist.

Yes, because taking away Bonds' entire career is the same as taking away a couple games out of Eli's career... dumbass.

Ok, from opening day 2011 roster to now, what has improved?
QB- I think the improvement is marginal at best. The season that Cassel had just finished was better than any Smith has ever had. OL- Sure, it should be better. We'll see if it makes a difference. CB- definitely worse than 2011. Aside from that, all the improvements are "the rookies will be awesome" and "the young players will be so much better than they were." |

The point is still sound. It's like Vermeil use to do. Take away that 80 yard run we gave up, and we had a pretty good day. You don't get to do that.

Eli is a streaky QB. He put together one solid season in 2011 from top to bottom. The rest of his years are peppered with Casselesque games. He'll be on fire for a few weeks and then trash for a few weeks. Last year he went 3 games straight without even throwing a TD pass. He's not consistent enough to be considered in the same league as the 4 QBs I mentioned. On the other hand, Barry Bonds was a homerrun hitter throughout his entire career, steroids or no steroids. He was a 30/30 guy in Pittsburgh before even sniffing SF. |

The "myth" of a franchise QB needed to win in this league is a factual reality. |

So, in recent history, my theory of the complete team is winning out over your theory of you have to have an elite qb. So, who is sounding stupid? the proof is right there. Right in your face, I pointed it out, spelled it out, yet, im just stupid. I get it. You are proven wrong, and instead of providing a counter argument you just resort to calling people stupid. Well played. I am stupid, because I disproved your own theory, while you yourself were claiming a guy that has won 2 of the last 6 super bowls, is indeed, NOT Elite. And Im stupid. And to the bolded above. I did not say that you DONT need an elite qb, its really all in the wording. I said, you are subscribing that ALL YOU NEED is an elite qb, and that's not the case. If that were, then either aaron Rodgers, drew brees, tom brady, or peyton would win every year. I simply subscribe to the notion that to win a super bowl, you have to have great coaching, a great front office, great talent around you, and a good to great defense to win the super bowl. Now, tell me im stupid? Ill take a team that has an above average qb, like the seahawks, 49ers, Ravens, over any of the 4 elite qbs, any day of the week.

That is impressive, I'm not sure a more apt metaphor for Alex Smith is even possible. |

You stated ELITE, that was your premise. Brady, Peyton, Brees, Rodgers. That's what you said. Alex Smith is the Chiefs franchise qb. No one thinks that he is what is going to be the difference between, winning the super bowl and NOT. But, in Andy Reids eyes, he is the chiefs franchise qb. so if all you need is a FRANCHISE qb, then what the **** are you bitching for.
