I think Alex Smith is a touch more accurate than Green. Where Green blows Smith away is that he was terrific at going through his progressions, was never afraid to take chances, and was outstanding at finding an open man. After all this time, Smith doesn't do those things nearly as well as he should. |

I'm good with Alex Smith as our QB this season. In fact, I can not wait to see what he can do here.
And, I am glad we did not pick Barkley at the end of the 3rd/start of the 4th. Drafting a QB there might cloud our judgement come next years draft... if Alex is as bad as most here seem to think he will be. Win/Win IMO. Smith gets a 1 year test run to see if he truely has figured out the game. If he has... great for us. If he hasn't... we will have a good position to draft a QB in round 1 next year. |

I think Berry and Flowers are just as good as/better than their starters too. We'll see. I think our defense will be solid. I think an attacking style is what we need as opposed to Romeo's conservative bullshit.

A cerebral QB shouldn't check down as often as he does. Green was never afraid to take chances. In fact, his first season, he was a bit of a gunslinger. |

No you couldn't. Not this year. Have you been living under a rock for the past week?

Why pick Green? Because it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, that's why.

Geno Smith apparently inspires irrationality.

I don't think many people think Alex Smith is the most awesomest QB on the planet.
I don't think there's much of an argument that there wasn't a better option in the 2013 offseason. There really isn't. If you think drafting Barkley in the late 3rd and starting him day one is a better option...well, I guess you're entitled. If you think that Geno was the guy, then you're entitled to THAT opinion too, but 32 NFL GM's disagree with you. They've all been wrong before, it's true, but at this point, it would appear that he just wasn't special. I liked Trent Green just fine, but he was a marginally talented in all physical ways. I use him as an example of what can be done with a very smart but not particularly talented QB. If you remember him as a mad bomber then your recollections are different than mine. I expect that Andy Reid is going to run an Andy Reid offense. They will use screens, and they will use slants and they will occasionally chuck it deep in order to force the defense to defend every inch of the field, from sideline to sideline and front to back. That is what Reid has always done at every other stop. Expecting him to run a Herm Edwards offense or a Brian Daboll offense because...well, because you don't like the QB choice is dumb. Reid's gonna do what Reid does, and if Smith sucks he'll sit and quickly. |

being required to and always hitting the spots downfield =/= downfield accuracy |

Trent Green was very efficient and accurate in the 15-30 yard range. Alex Smith is not. All he does is dink and dunk bullshit. The only QB who threw fewer passes down the field last year was Christian Ponder. And you think that's comparable to Trent Green? **** you.

Ya know maybe they did want Barkley. Or maybe they are just waiting until next year when there might a Actually be a QB worth drafting in the first couple rounds.
