When I first got my permit I was carrying a 38. had to be careful what clothes I wore and no matter what holster I used I just wasn't comfortable unless I was standing. I just don't see how people can roll around carrying 40 calibers. especially in the summer.
some will laugh at what I carry now with all the talk of stopping power...but the way I see it, much like being struck by lightning, I'll almost surely never have to draw my weapon because I'll never be in that kind of situation...however...if I do have to draw I have either 7 or 11 shots depending on which mag I have with me (7 is more comfortable). I am always completely comfortable and noone would ever know I'm armed...even with shorts and t-shirt. I carry a Kel Tec P32 with a grip extension on the 7 round mag and a belt clip attachment so no holster needed, just clips to your pants and hangs inside. size of a wallet. I have both 7 and 11 mags loaded with hollow points. I'm pretty sure a few hits from this thing will stop a bruvva. Kel Tec also makes P-3AT which is exactly the same size as the P32 and fires 380's. problem is that they don't make the extended mag for this one and it's so powerful and small I can't hold onto the damn thing while shooting it - but if it had an extended mag I'd be able to grip it nicely. the belt clip comes in both right side and left so to suit your preference. it doesn't affect grip or shooting. nice little gun. very accurate. my wife and I both have one. our 38's are now stashed in the house along with a 357...just in case... put my kids through gun safety class and we're good to go. as soon as my daughter is old enough I'll be bugging her to get a permit. it's a ****ed up world out there.... EDIT - oh snap! Kel Tec is finally making the extended mag for the P-3AT....nice. more grip to handle the power coming out of this little booger. maybe I need a new toy....

P3AT extended magazines and magazine finger extensions are available. The extended (9rnd) mags are about $25. The finger extension is available for $5.
I find the P3AT w/ belt clip to be extremely comfortable, and removes any excuse for not carrying. I've never had any trouble point shooting with the P3AT, so I don't use an extended mag. The extra size and weight of an extended magazine seems to undermine the idea of super-light and small firearm. As for a .32 for self defense, I'm not convinced a .380 is credible (am considering a PF9),but either is better than harsh words.
