Nice thing to hear about a 4-star recruit:

Quote:
TERRY BECKNER JR.
Height, weight: 6-4, 300
Hometown/High school: East St. Louis, Ill./East St. Louis
Projected position: Defensive line
Rivals.com rank: 4-star, No. 36 overall, No. 5 defensive tackle

Trivia: Totaled 235 tackles over his final two seasons for the Flyers.

Coach-speak: “I’d be sitting in the living room, and he’s selling our program to his mom and dad. And I’m sitting there going, ‘OK, this is good.’ He sold the heck out of it to them, his coaches, relatives, things like that. I’m sitting there listening to it going, ‘OK, this is all coming together.’ ” — Ford, his primary recruiter
The blurb about Lock:

Quote:
DREW LOCK

Height, weight: 6-4, 205

Hometown/High school: Lee’s Summit/Lee’s Summit

Projected position: Quarterback

Rivals.com rank: 4-star, No. 177 overall, No. 7 pro-style QB

Trivia: Father, Andy, and grandfather, Jerry, both played for Missouri. Was born in Columbia.

Coach-speak: “He’s one of those guys from a quarterback standpoint you have a sense that he’s got a great feel for where everybody’s at on the field. It’s almost like he can picture the routes in his mind. He’s looking over here, and he knows that guy’s there. He turns and finds him really quick. From that standpoint, do I feel like he’s ahead in his preparation? I do feel that way.” — Henson

The worst part is that some of the old fart fans think the coaching isn't a problem and they blame the players instead. The team has regressed from game to game and players are getting suspended for things that are so old school and stupid.

Meh, it's not a huge bummer.

I like basketball, okay, but it's not that huge in my life. Would I rather see Mizzou basketball win? Sure, that's fun. I'd like to see them win in all sports.
But when football goes bad, that makes a little more difference to me. I get pretty down about the games and still watch them all.

It's just a difference in sports. I assume I'm not alone. But basketball, to me, is just a distraction between football and more football.

Same thing happened with Weis. He was gonna clean up the program, instill discipline, blah blah. KU fans convinced themselves there was an "academic mess" so awful that Weis saved the program from cataclysmic doom. Last we saw of Uncle Charlie, he was showing discipline by falling asleep in team meetings.

Anyway you can be sure most of your fans will defend him and make up all sorts of excuses. That will work (for a year or two). Don't worry by the end they'll be nowhere to be found and will never admit error

This much is certain. KA is a plague, and this program will never be competitive with him at the helm.

I'm still not hopeful about the Chiefs. KU Football has had recent success so I don't think they are that far off.

MU has had no success and now is bordering on a run of terrible play it might defy modern day standards.

lol, yep.

Academics were never a problem at KU. Weis completely fabricated all of it.

What can we do? Fire the coach? I think the fans are speaking with their (lack of) attendance.

Not really accurate. Mizzou basketball was in the Elite 8 in 2009, one year after Kansas' one successful football season. Both programs have gone in the toilet since.

Mizzou had a chance to make up for the blunder of hiring Haith and they tried to do that by hiring KA. Absolutely brutal, will set the program back years.

I don't see how it's settling to use the only method fans have to effect change, which is to vote with their wallets. What are the fans who care about the basketball program supposed to do mid-season other than not show up?

Missouri averaged 65k for football in 2014 and attendance was up over 2013. This is not a disengaged fan base, or one that doesn't care about winning.

Clearly, Petro, along with everyone else over there on the KSU/KU newswire at 810 is not exactly in touch with the Missouri fan base.

I can assure you that the geriatric crowd is entrenched in their opinion that Anderson deserves four years regardless of outcome.
