National average for gasoline is now $3.35/gallon. The "good" news is that crude seems to have stabilized near the $100 mark.

Crude has pushed through $100/barrel today and is trading near $102. Gasoline at $3.38. The "good" news is that the big push in crude has now made it's way into the retail pricing.

The present retail price of gasoline includes the recent ~10% increase in crude pricing. So, without another very quick jump in crude, gasoline prices should stabilize around $3.40 for the time being.

So how long will this surge in gas prices last until the prices fall out like they did last time, a few years ago? I remember gas was nearly 4 bucks a gallon, then bottomed out around $1.20/gal in my area.

As always, it depends on what happens with the price of crude.

It peaked in July 08 around $144/barrel then plummeted over the next 5 months. NO ONE thought we'd see gas that low again. I certainly didnt.
