Game of Thrones (spoiler-free zone)
A few have suggested it, might as well test the waters. The idea is to give people who haven't read the books a safe place to talk about the show.
A few quick ground rules:

I wish they would of worked Snow meeting with Mance into the episode. It just seems the whole battle was leading up to that then cliffhanger. Like they didn't have enough already.

I think the only reason it was disappointing was because there were sooooo many wildlings down there and only 1 giant makes it through the gate and the rest retreat? Highly unlikely.

That's siege tactics. Just about every army has done it at some point. While a relatively small number of his men assaulted the wall, Mance stood a hundred yards away, assessing the defenses. The two giants and hundred or so men he just lost were easily worth seeing what kind of defenses (like the bladed pendulum) the Wall had. The fact that a bunch of Crows died, the gates are half torn up, the Night's Watch is out of oil, and a part of the balustrade has blown up is a bonus.
Jon's right. The following night, four mammoths, eight giants, and 50,000 men, all guided by Wildlings seeing through owl's eyes, would run that place over. |

I liked it last night's episode. Not dissapointing in the least bit. My wife liked it a lot too.

There was nothing underwhelming about last nights episode. It was the darkest and grittiest episode of GoT yet.

I agree. And i thought it was far better than the fight at King's Landing.

Miles better. I remember being disappointed by Blackwater's fight scenes. Not so with this.

The fight choreography involving Jon Snow was pretty excellent, especially when he fought the Thenn chieftain. Really nice mixture of stylish and brutal.

Maybe its because the book spends a lot of time on the details of the battle. There was a lot left out. There is a lot to come yet. Can't really go beyond that with this being the spoiler free thread.

I thought it was funny that one of the things I noticed in Blackwater was for how loooooong those archers held their bows fully drawn as the Boom Ship slowly sailed by. This time, the commander was yelling at his soldiers not to do just that. Much better!

The outro music during the credits was the best yet. It was like the GoT music meets some old Star Wars Darth Vader stuff. Same when they were showing Mance's fire.
