Well, We Probably Should Have a Brian Orakpo Thread...

If we keep playing like this, we won't be in a position to draft Stafford. It's not good or bad, it is what it is.

With that being said, a genetic freak like Rak daddy would go a long way towards fixing the ills of this defense. He's not as long as Michael Johnson, but he's fast, explosive, and incredibly strong. Plus, he's taken boxing lessons, so Krumrie will love him with his ****tard slap-fight drill.

There could be worse selections in the 3-7 range where we will most likely choose.

I would not take Michael Oher or Orakpo.

Brendan Albert has really grown into the LT position. Why **** with that?

I know TW has a complete mancrush on everything Oher related so cut him some slack.

As for Dorsey as a DE, that's hilarious.

You do know Orakpo is a DE, right?

I'm sure you do I haven't read the thread yet.

In case this hasn't been posted.

It was a damn typo. I meant to say that I would not take Oher over Orakpo.

I'll be fine if the team wins enough to be out of the Stafford sweepstakes and ends up with a player like Orakbo instead. Good thread.

BPA doesn't apply in the top 5. You can get the top-rated player at every single position. Why would you settle for a player you don't need?

I like Orakpo. My only concern is that he seems like a one-dimensional DE. I have a feeling he'll get swallowed up in run D on the pro level. He may become a very good player, but he has flaws in his game.

I still believe that the absolute best fits for the Chiefs are Maualuga and Laurinitis. These are both can't-miss prospects. Rather than use a top 5 pick on a top prospect, why not trade down and draft either of these 2 guys at the right value and get 1 or 2 great picks on the side? I've said this many times, but I've heard little response. I never understood why teams are so stubborn to trade out of their slot--if the Chiefs don't find a taker, then drop the compensation request a notch (you don't have to adhere strictly to the draft compensation chart). Hell, you could trade down and probably STILL get Orakpo. If not Orakpo, Michael Johnson.

I woudn't mind trading down, but If we trade down, and pick Laurenitis, I'm gonna shit a brick, and if maualuga is on the board when we do it, I will assassinate the culprit.

Round 1: Stafford if available. If not, DE or trade down.
Round 2: (if he slips) Brandon Spikes

Agree. Laurenitis' biggest knock is that he doesn't shed blocks well. That's a pretty critical skill for a MLB.

Orakpo and Johnson both are intriguing guys for where the Chiefs are going to be picking. Can't say I'd be upset with either.

Orakpo is a physical specimen and highly productive, unlike most workout warriors. I do worry just a little bit that he might have become that physical specimen using the Shawne Merriman method, but he's special enough to overlook it, I think.

I caught a small bit of the Ohio State game the other day, so this is by far NOT a representative sample of Laurinitus' play, but I saw him get run by by a tight end on one play, and on another, get completely mauled by a guard on a zone run. I don't know much about the guy, other than he has produced at OSU, but those seem pretty indicative of what I've heard about him.

I highly doubt Laurinaitis goes in the top 15 anyway..
