Armstrong betting bent over and plunger ****ed in trade discussions again.

Has the guy ever gotten value in a deal? Or has he ever 'stolen' a player in trade? The guy's just a shitty horse-trader.

It's time to move on.

They have no leverage because they overspent on Lehtera, Bouwmeester and Steen.

He put HIMSELF over the barrel here. It's a culmination of all the poor decisions he's made over the last 3-4 years. It's time to move on.

In the last 12 months alone, we've lost:

Oshie
Backes
Brouwer
Elliott
Ott
Copley

And in return?

2016 2nd Round pick (for Elliott)
Zach Sanford
2017 1st round pick
2018 3rd round pick (conditional, for Elliott)
2019 2nd round pick (conditional)

I think I have that right. ****ing brutal.

The ONLY thing that has kept me from burning Armstrong's house down is that the 2nd rounder for Elliott was turned into Jordan Kyrou, who is absolutely beasting in Sarnia.

Not entirely fair to count Oshie, Brouwer and Copley as Copley and Brouwer came in return for Oshie.

My favorite is that in the last 18 months we've sent Oshie and Shattenkirk to the Capitals and we'll have a first round pick and conditional 2nd to show for it when all is said and done.

How unbelievably pathetic is that? The guy just sucks out loud.

Well, it kinda is when you couldn't retain the pieces you acquired.

Your second paragraph sums it up.

I read that Army described Sanford as similar to Tage Thompson today.

Well, they are both about 6'4" and can play two forward positions - and that's where the similarities end.

I don't even care if he IS Tage Thompson.

That's not where the system is lacking. And just as was the case when they traded Oshie for 'sandpaper' and extended Ott, this idiot ****ing franchise doesn't seem to realize that they have an ALARMING lack of skill.

When the best thing you can say about the piece you acquired is that with a lot of luck he MIGHT end up as good as Patrick Berglund, then you really ****ed up. Because this team should've dealt Berglund as well. They keep acting like losing Backes is the reason they've fallen apart and it really isn't. Losing Backes and Brouwer was a step in the RIGHT direction. The problem is that they paired it with extending Steen (and of course the other ill-fated decisions they've made, like costing themselves Shattenkirk by extending Bouwmeester, which should be fireable on its face).

They've needed speed for 3-4 years and instead they keep tilting things further and further towards these lumbering 'grit' players that aren't helping.

Spot on.

Bleh. Vanek to FLA for a 3rd and AHL trash. Was hoping for at least a second. Guess his rep is still bad around the league.
