2014-2015 NBA off-season Lebron goes home thread.

I will update this when the schedule is announced in a couple of weeks, but I will open with the new uniforms for the Charlotte Hornets below.

You'd think that if the Cavs offer was half as bad as people think several other teams would be more than willing to offer more. Maybe last weeks rumors of several NBA executives thinking Love is overrated are true?

Question. To those that say the cavs can't sign love out right. Can't LeBron opt out next year? They could sign love, and then LeBron couldn't they? Just asking.

The current Cavs roster is probably the 2nd best team in the East and could get to the Finals because of Lebron but will get beat by the West team. Cavs with Love, Lebron and Irving win it all this upcoming season.
Right now, the cavs have Tristan Thompson, Bennett, Wiggins, Waiters. Some other young guys too. It is possible that at least half maybe more improve with a new coach and under LeBron s tutelage. Maybe they as a whole improve a lot. If they do, then LeBron has a young nucleus two years more seasoned and Kyrie. And with the 2015 trade exception and the money not spent on love, can grab a good veteran haul. I listed several rim protectors above.

If the cavs go with love, LeBron will probably play 40 minutes a game... Again. He will have a hamstrung cap situation where the cavs can't afford any players he wants and will have to cut a few of his favorites like Varejao. Without draft picks or cap space and without budget to afford to keep younger guys who outplay their contract, the talent will get worse.

So you tell me which situation is better. Love will help right away but this team is way too young to be considered any favorite to win especially against the west. So let's ask the question this way... If LeBron and love don't win a championship in two years, then what? Are the cavs going to pull a Miami and try to throw in a hilarious haul of free agents to lure LeBron back?

Scenario 1 your talent is ascending and has cap flexibility to keep improving. Scenario two is a team that will peak quickly then descend rapidly. If LeBron truly believes in his letter, that this will take a while and he wants to mentor the young guys, then he should think long and hard about a love option that essentially puts you all in to winning in the next 2 years.

Love can carry the team for a bit if Lebron needs a breather; he's done it the past few years in Minnesota.

The defense will be terrible if they do that. And with the team unable to retain or add quality depth, the burden on Love and Lebron grows. And that's not including the fact that Kyrie and Love have both had questionable health histories.

So those of you in the know, how bad is Anthony Morrow at defense? Hes statistically one of the more efficient scorers in the league. One of the best 3 pt shooters in the league by percentage. And for the last couple of years his playing time has been sparse. I even read he has a Six foot ten wingspan. What can OKC fans expect out of him?

Cavaliers fans seem to think that the NBA now exists only to serve as a feeder system for their team.

Holy ****ing hell, I used Gasol as an example of one of several players who complement the Cavs team well to prove that the Cavs need a rim protector a hell of a lot more than a stretch 4. And that if a very good player becomes available, the Cavs would have the trade bait and cash to afford it. But not if they make a trade for Love. I never once said the Cavs have any shot in hell at actually getting Gasol.

In fact, most of the original post (if you read it, which you probably didn't) was saying they could probably grab a very good rim protector for much cheaper.

Love, by himself, kept Minnesota in contention for a playoff spot in the West. Defense, offense, it doesn't matter; he's already done it. I'm guessing he'd welcome whatever burden you'd hand him.

Who was the Heat's "rim protector"? Birdman? You don't think the Cavs could find a similar guy on the scrapheap?

I like the Cavs, but Cleveland Fan is making this very difficult.
