2014-2015 NBA off-season Lebron goes home thread.

I will update this when the schedule is announced in a couple of weeks, but I will open with the new uniforms for the Charlotte Hornets below.

Have no idea how Kevin Love would be more likely to "underachieve" than Andrew Wiggins.

Then the Cavs go with Waiters or use cap space to bring in Gordon or Dragic. If Bennett busts they go with Tristan. They are safe both ways.
Kyrie / Waiters / Lebron / Tristan / Varejao with Bennett / Wiggins / Miller / James Jones as depth.

You now have $14M saved and a $10M exception in 2015 plus 3 first round picks to sign an UFA, sign and trade a RFA, or draft for depth. What if you took that lineup above and added 2 of these guys: Eric Gordon or Dragic in case Wiggins busts (I'm assuming Waiters walks). Greg Monroe, Omer Asik, DeAndre Jordan, Brook Lopez. That's a very good team even if Bennett and Wiggins are terrible. Now take that same team and assume Bennett or Wiggins or both are average. Very good. Excellent?

Quote:
What if he's nothing more than a role player or just a above average starter? What if after waiting 2-3 years to groom Wiggins, LeBron's body starts breaking down from the high mileage and they haven't won a ring yet?
- Lebron without Wiggins = 40+ minutes a night. 3 years from now, Lebron is 1 part of 3 man wrecking crew
- Lebron with Wiggins = < 40 minutes a night. 3 years from now Lebron is facilitator for a deep team.

With Wiggins, you're looking at a lot more "what if?" situations than with Love.
They do. But they also have a TON of options with great trade chips and a ton of cap space. They can use those to either fix Wiggins or Bennett if they suck, or an even better scenario... what if Wiggins and Bennett are good and you can use those trade chips and cap space to complement them? Wow.

Only Wiggins can sub for Lebron?

If the Cavs acquire Love, Lebron doesn't have to ****ing play 40+ minutes a night, chiefzilla

You're making assumptions and pretending it's a given fact when neither you nor anybody else have a clue what's going to happen.

I could just as easily say, "Bennett and Waiters are busts; Wiggins probably isn't going to be good enough to be the next Lebron, so now the Cavs have a big two and garbage instead of a big three. In the big 2 scenario, Lebron is forced to play 40+ minutes per night, while in the other scenario, he has two other guys to handle the scoring while he can rest on the bench and plays under 40 minutes per night."

And guess what? It would be just as ****ing valid.

Waiters is easily a bust.

I know you're proving a point to someone who has some awful takes, but Waiters doesn't want to come off the pine in the NBA but was willing to do it in college?

He's a scab.

I remember seeing that. It's probably the worst sports take ever on this board.

I can do that too.

JJ Barea is James Harden for the Timberwolves!

Who is going to guard the best player if you hook LeBron? Kylie, Waiters, and love are horrendous at defense.

And if you sign a big three, you are throwing 60 mill at three players and trading away four players who could combine for probably 15 mil. You probably lose Waiters. And Varejao unless he takes a major paycut. Where do they pull depth from? Their negative a billion dollars in cap space? The two draft picks they trade away?

Wiggins is the only hope right now for the cavs to have any on ball perimeter defender not named LeBron.

I think Waiters would excel on a team where he could be the primary guard.
