Dolphins willing to pay Branden Albert his asking price
By Dan Hanzus Around the League Writer Published: April 22, 2013 at 08:07 p.m. The Miami Dolphins have shown all offseason they're unafraid to spend to get what they want. Their pursuit of Kansas City Chiefs left tackle Branden Albert fits with that new organizational thinking. NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reported Monday that Miami is willing to meet Albert's asking price, that being a contract similar to the six-year, $53.4 million extension signed by Houston Texans tackle Duane Brown last summer. This stands in contrast to a recent report by Yahoo! Sports that stated the Dolphins and Albert wouldn't be a match unless his price "comes down significantly." If the financial end is taken care of, only compensation between teams is left to be worked out. The Chiefs want a second-round pick. The Dolphins own two (at 42 and 54). If Kansas City is willing to take the later pick, we should have ourselves a deal. Follow Dan Hanzus on Twitter @DanHanzus.

I don't see the Dolphins paying Albert more than they wanted to pay Long. Oh well.

Dorsey said he was taking the best player and that player is an OT.
I'm sure he likes Geno, but he's not the best player and that's the plan that has worked for years.

If they refuse 42, keep Albert for this year and draft Jordan.

Insert: Arizona
Mike Jurecki of XTRA Phoenix is "hearing" the Cardinals "have discussed" trading for Chiefs LT Branden Albert. The Dolphins and Albert's agent held contract discussions over the weekend, but talks have reportedly stalled. Insert the Cardinals. Arizona is desperate for a left tackle and there's a real possibility none of the top three will be there at No. 7 in the draft. Kansas City wants a second-round pick for Albert; the Cardinals hold the 38th pick. Albert also needs a new long-term contract. He is said to be seeking upwards of $9 million annually. |
