Alex Smith Traded to Chiefs

Well, it looks like the deal is done.

https://twitter.com/intent/user?scre...w_p=tweetembed

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
49ers have completed a trade with the Chiefs for Alex Smith, tho can't be official til March 12. Chiefs really made a commitment to Smith

Jay Glazer @JayGlazer
Deal has been agreed upon between Chiefs and 49ers. Compensation unclear but I'm told again Chiefs have made a clear commitment to Smith.

That's ****ing complete and utter bullshit.

Alex Smith is being brought to Kansas City to WIN NOW. There isn't one goddamned QB in the 2013 draft that can start Day One, let alone win 11 games this year.

The Chiefs have chosen not to wait and develop a guy for three years. Period.

By trading for Smith, the Chiefs have given themselves a 3 year window in which to draft and develop a QB. They now have the luxury of taking a guy in the 5th round and a guy in the first round next year and develop them.

Forcing a rookie to start just because you need a QB is foolish. Blaine Gabbert, anyone?

I also don't want to hear some bullshit excuse if Alex Smith doesn't hit the ground running.

We traded for a 29 year old quarterback, he needs to play well in his first year.

You dont have that, then, well, its not gonna happen.
You could say that. Or you could acknowledge the fact that the hall of fame views winning the superbowl as an indicator of hall of fame worthiness.

and the cool thing was

they gave up on Brohm IMMEDIATELY

they didn't care about his draft status...he sucked, they liked Flynn better, and they immediately gave Flynn the backup job

for the record, that was GOATSE level manipulating

I looked at one pick (#34) and determined it's a shit pick because for the last decade it has had shit results.

Which is shit logic.

And the exact shit logic GOATSE is using in the other Alex Smith thread.

I would agree. Admittedly there will probably be some adjustment to new scheme, new personnel, however he should be humming relatively quickly.

That was four years later. That was a GM that outright refused to address the most important player on the roster, even though he could have taken Dalton, Kaepernick, Freeman, Wilson and countless others without even giving up a single draft choice.

Furthermore, people in KC were pissed off with the quality of play overall, not just the QB position.

It's one thing to ask the fans to be patient in 2008 (2-14), then patient with a new regime (2009-2010) but when you're asking them to put up with your asshole head coach, Tyler Palko and later, Romeo Crennel, how would anyone with a brain expect the fans to react?

You have no idea if any of the 2013 qbs can come in and start right away.

There is no reason they can't trade for Alex and still spend the top pick on a QB. The idea that quarterbacks need 3 years to develop is silly...especially when this is supposedly Andy Reids strong point.

I can't believe that you, of all people, are totally fine with "next year" version 30 for this team.

Alex Smith is good enough to keep us away from top ten draft picks...you know, the picks where the premium quarterbacks go....

I agree completely.

If the Chiefs don't win at least 10 games in 2013, it had better be because of serious injuries across the board, like 2011.

The front office won't have much of a leash if this team stays healthy and wins less than 8 games.
