The worst thing to happen to Stafford was getting Megatron. Dude repeatedly forces the ball when he shouldn't. It also happens to be the best thing to happen to him as well.

With the talent they have in Detroit, there's no way that team should be .500. Awful coaching.

Yeah, luckily for them they have a decent base. If someone can come in their and "fix" Stafford, they've got tons of firepower in Megatron, Bush and Pettigrew alone. They've got a decent offensive line and a solid backup HB in Bell as well as a redzone stud in Fauria. They could stand to add a second and/or third WR option but they already have the pieces to be a top 5 offense.

On defense, the line is pretty much set and Tulloch and Levy are good. They could probably upgrade the LDE spot (why'd they let Avril go?) and everyone in the secondary needs to go.

At least 9 dome games a season (8 home and 1 in MIN) and that's not a bad situation for a new head coach to walk into.

I just watched that replay - man that kick was incredible.

I'm sure most of you have played some ball, did any of you bother to stand at the 40 yard line and look at the goalposts? The damn things look about as wide as a postage stamp. It's absolutely unbelievable that someone can kick a friggen football 60 yards away and get them through those things.

And when you look at the make, he was literally less than a foot away from the right upright and maybe 3 feet above the crossbar. You couldn't tuck that thing in any closer than that.

And in case you didn't read it in my other 3 threads I was down by 18 in my FFL and came back to win because Mr. FG scored me 23 pts.

I love this man...

Denver rookie QB John Elway, on Jack Lambert, after Lambert and the Steelers knocked Elway out of his first game as a pro (1983).

I don't think so. He's a WCO evangelical w/o the flexibility that someone like Reed has always had regarding a QB's talents. That would be a complete waste of Stafford's talents.

I think you want a guy who will still run a Coryell offense, but with coaches that actually pay attention to fundamentals. Detroit has terrible fundamentals and discipline.

Bill O'Brien would be a perfect hire, IMO.

He favors more of a pro-set, play action heavy downfield passing attack. Off the board, maybe take a look at David Shaw.

Stafford's an old-school, Drew Bledsoe type of immobile, rocket armed pocket passer. I'm not sure he has the accuracy/timing/intelligence for a Coryell offense. But if you set him up in a system that relies on basic pro-sets and power running that opens passing lanes downfield, he could be damn dangerous.

I just don't think he's a smart enough QB for Ehardt Perkins, Coryell, WCO or any of the more complicated offensive schemes.

The Lions run a predominantly Coryell system now, and have since they hired Linehan.

Gruden's offense isn't a great fit for his power arm.

O'Brien has a $13 million buyout.
