Am I wrong about that?
You're joking right? Try looking at it like this.

A basketball player who almost exclusively shoots layups is going to have a better fg% and therefore points per attempt, than a player who shoots around the field, solely b/c player1 only takes high percentage shots. Not only that, but his shot attempts is lower b/c the layup isn't always there.

Meanwhile, player2 scores more points per game, and overall, b/c he takes lower percentage shots, and sometimes forces a shot b/c his team needs him to. Therefore, he has more misses making his ppa go down.

Player2 though, has carried his team to big wins and has hit multiple game winners b/c he isn't afraid to try.

Down 3 with seconds left. Who do you want taking the final shot to push for OT? The guy who has spent his season taking layups, or the guy with a lower ppa, b/c he's been carrying the team and doing what he had to in order to win.

Brilliant analogy. Rep.

As far as a horrible trade- how do you know that? Usually it takes years to find out if a trade pans out or not?
I'm surprised by your support of Alice Smith.

Alex will know what he's doing and be fine. Whether the OL and receivers will quickly know what they are doing is the only thing that could keep this year 1 offense from being above average vs below.

That's where alex will help. He understands what the defense is doing, and is literally a coach on the field. You have seen it. All of his checks and audibles at the lines. He knows what he sees, and will put his players in position to succeed......

NO, hes not. Its called reading comprehension. Hes a dope who cant understand that there are more parts to being a qb than just throwing the ball.

Look, you and I have gone round and round on this subject. There are two things that Alex Smith does well. he doesn't turn the ball over, and pre snap, there aren't many guys who are better than Alex Smith. Those are just facts. I am going to guess, that you don't watch as many 49er games as I do. Two things were very clear when Kaepernick took over for Alex Smith. Alex Smith was so much better pre snap than anyone knew, and that Kaepernick was a hell of a play extender, and master of the big play. I didn't talk about alex after the snap, ive said many times that if a play doesn't go to script, hes screwed. But as for audibling, changing protections, putting players where they need to be, hes in the tom brady, peyton manning discussion.......FACT

I don't disagree that he does those two things well (though I am concerned about how well he will do the FIRST when asked to be more aggressive throwing the ball, as Andy Reid has very publicly done).

While those are good skills to have, they are not the most important skills a QB in the NFL needs to have. That's why he's a solid/average/competent NFL QB and not an elite or near-elite NFL QB.

The things I listed are all things that are NICE for a QB to have in his pocket... but not the things that make or break a QB's ability to play QB at a high level in the league.
