What's your favorite wine?
For us wine drinkers, I'm curious about your favorite "drinking" wine (as in, something uner $15 a bottle).

I'm partial to the 2002 Hill of Gold Shiraz (Rosemont Estates) and the 2002 Coppola Premium Claret. Right now, I'm drinking a 2003 Coppola Zin.

This one isn't >$15, but I had a wonderful bottle of wine last night: a 2009 Bentley-Lane Pinot Noir. Runs about $25, which is more than I typically spend on a bottle, but I will definitely buy this one again.

It's tough to find a good pinot noir at or below the $15 price point.

MacMurray is good and can be found right at $15.

Cambria Julia's Vineyard is an excellent pinot noir in the low $20s

A standard in my home is Chateau Ste Michelle's reisling.

My wife just finished up a bottle of the CSM Riesling. I'm not a fan, but I don't like Rieslings. Too sweet. At the wine shop last night, the wine dude that turned me onto the Pinot Noir also suggested a Moscato. We haven't opened it yet, but I'm interested.

I know this comment is from years ago, but in Mendoza I was talking to the lady that did our tour of the winery, and she was saying they'd love to get rid of corks, but their biggest export markets still "demand" it. But she showed me these massive stacks of ruined bottles of wine because of problems with the cork.

She also said Australia and one other place I can't remember have almost completely moved away from corks. But in other places it's associated with cheap wine still. Anyway, it was all very interesting.

Yep. The Pinot Noir I had last night was a screw top. Didn't bother me at all.

Australian Red Shiraz is one of my favorite types of wine. Here is one of my favorite brands, great flavour, not too much $$ yet not real mainstream either.

One winery I get stuff from has gone to screw tops for their white, but still corks their reds. Pretty much everything else I get comes corked, although I do get the odd red here and there with a screw top. I'll have to start paying more attention, but I know the last couple that came with screw tops were Australian wines. Interesting...

Wow, that Moscato is SWEET (as in, sugary). Mrs. FMB! likes it; I pour the remainder of my glass into hers.

To be fair, the flavor of the grape is nice - very fruity - but it's just really, really sweet.
